Horribly run restaurant. I am a disabled veteran with a real service dog. Went in and was instantly denied access. When I told the gentleman that this is a service dog. He said,"I don't believe it's a service dog", then asked for proof (this is illegal under the ADA). However I showed him both a certificate(which discloses personal information - why it's illegal to ask for that kind of proof). He then said how do I know if a customer brings a dog. I said, look up the rules for restaurant employees and what they should ask. I know some people abuse the service dog issue, but the vast majority have disabilities for which their dog is trained. The reason for the American Disability Act in regards to service animals is to avoid discriminatory denial of access for those of us that need our service animals in order to ease a handicap (military service connected in my case) and be able to access public services. The manner in which this business owner handled it was rude, ignorant and offensive. Stay away if you support treating disabled veterans or even disable people with dignity and respect. There are other...

I wanted to love it, but honestly it wasn't great. Like what people have said about the service...it wasn't good. We got there around lunch time. It's wasn't that busy. It took them 15 minutes to take our order. The table behind our got there 10 minutes AFTER we did and the waiter there was about to start taking their order ahead of us. I had to raise a stink about it. The other table ended up getting their food BEFORE us and it looked good. I mention this because when we got our food, our sushi rolls were only half the size of theirs and we ordered similar rolls. The sushi rolls were mediocre at best, only as good as what you get a your local supermarket.

I order the Siu Mai lunch, which automatically told me this was a Chinese owned establishment. What's worse was that the Siu Mai was deep fried and served on a plate with raw expired baby carrots and 2 pieces of broccoli on a lettuce leaf. My co-worker ordered 2 sushi rolls that were tiny for the price we paid. Overall it was expensive for mediocre food at best. The service wasn't good either. Can't say we'd ever go back after...

Very disappointing. Do not go here. I am filled with regret that I tried it. 0 stars.

I love Japanese food... But this is not what I was served. The food was bland, expensive, and came in very small portions. That's a really bad combo. Add the slow service and you have a perfectly terrible experience.

This place was empty. That was my first clue to not order food here. Still took them nearly half an hour to make 2 items that they said would be 15 minutes.

Then, my food is practically flavorless. Tonkotsu ramen broth tasted like tap water. $25 for 5 gyoza, half a dozen cali rolls, and 6 pieces of tempura. All of it as bland as the broth. Stunningly bad food.

If you like bland food, high prices, and small portions... You're the only one and this is the place for you. My guess is that this place will be out of business soon.

Very bad place to go. Very disappointed.

I will not return and I highly recommend avoiding this place. Don't waste your money. You'll regret it...

My friends and I were super hungry and were walking around when we came across this place. We thought why not and decided to give it a try. It’s a small sushi place and the service is super friendly. It was around 8:30PM and not very crowded. We ordered the nabeyaki udon, badass roll, oshinko maki, and the dragon roll. The udon was pretty good, the noodles weren’t too soft and the soup was pretty flavorful. The badass roll was really good and would definitely come back to get it. The oshinko was unexpected but expected, they didn’t specify what type of pickle was in there. The dragon roll was pretty good, they stuffed it. Everything was very filling and tasty. At the end, they gave us a digestif at the end that came with oranges. It was a nice surprise and delicious way to end the meal!

Tsuru Sushi, located in E-14th St., San Leandro, California, seats about 45-49 people on a good day. So hubby & I decided to try another Japanese place just for the helluvit. Ta-dah: Tsuru Sushi! For appetizers, we had savory grilled oysters & xiu mai. Hubby then ordered his usual salmon teriyaki while I ordered chirashi (mixed sashimi, miso soup, salad, & sushi rice). Honestly, I liked the fresher & bigger sashimi portions at Angry Fish better, which could be had at a lower price, too. Service was listless & inattentive. Piped-in music was a great mood-setter. Overall impact: OK, but needs improvement.

Tsuru was such a great find! The vibe felt just like a classic, cozy sushi spot — simple, inviting, and perfect for a night out. We went all in with sake bombs (fun and lively), three different rolls — including my favorite, the Lion King — plus garlic edamame, plum wine, and a 6-piece chef’s choice sashimi plate. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Service was friendly and easygoing, and the atmosphere made it feel like the kind of place you could make a regular stop. Definitely recommend for anyone craving quality sushi with a relaxed, welcoming energy.
