I went here on a Tuesday morning with my mother. This was our first time at Pelton Cafe. We were greeted and sat. Asked us if we wanted anything to drink and got our coffees right away. After that it took them a while to come back around and actually get our order. My mom got the chicken fried steak with gravy with well done eggs and house potatoes. I got the special of the day which was the Mexican-Benedict. We received our food fairly fast. My Benedict was really delicious but unfortunately the potatoes had absolutely NO FLAVOR whatsoever! My mother concured as well, stating that both her potatoes and eggs were completely flavorless. No salt, no pepper, NOTHING. They actually taste like they had been boiled and just tossed on the grill for a bit and put on the plate. They never came to check and see if the food was good or if we needed anything so I went up to the counter and asked if I could switch the country potatoes to hash browns instead due to the lack of flavor. She didn't give me a hard time but I could tell my request bothered her(initially when we put in our order we had the choice to pick between the potatoes or hash browns). She took my potatoes(my mother, due to their reaction decided to play it safe and just not say anything lol) and IMMEDIATELY brought out a hash brown. I mean IMMEDIATELY!! I don't know if they gave me one that was just sitting there or what but it sure taste like it. It wasn't hot and unfortunately just like the country potatoes had absolutely NO FLAVOR!!! Not even the slightest taste of at least some salt. At that point I figured I just call it an L and never go back again. For $20 each plate the least you could do is make sure the potatoes are seasoned! 2 stars are for coffee and the Benedict. Coffee was delicious as well as...
Read moreNothing bad but painfully basic mediocre food. I like a good diner and loved brunch at Fifth Wheel Food (solid delicious food with friendly service without any bells and whistles) a few times, and I hoped I may have similar experience here.
Dishes were like something made by kids who followed instruction well. Dishes are pale and soggy/salty/greasy and shriveled up. Every dish was half a step above free hotel breakfast. Minosa was lukewarm, fizz free, syrupy, and watered down.
Service was weird… young server with braids kept asking us if we were done with our plates when I barely touched my food. Initially, it was just a question mark but she asked 4, 5 times during our first 20 minutes. The restaurant was 30% full and we were eating 1:30~2:30pm at a normal pace. My friend chuckled as he walked back from the restroom because she was doing that at other tables too. I don’t know if she is new or whatever but it seemed she thinks she has to say something as she walks around the restaurant and doesn’t know what else to say? It was all in all not a good experience.
I give 4+ stars for solid place without having to be excellent but I don’t know how this place has over 4 stars. I’m now almost questioning...
Read moreBEWARE OF PRICES! I feel like I just got scammed out of $70 for my breakfast. I ordered an omelet with onions, spinach, mushrooms, turkey sausage and feta cheese with a side of sour cream (small little container) and the total was $22! I didn't realize they were charging me $2 for each item! The orange juice was $5 for a small glass and although the food was decent, not for that price. There were a lot of "custom" charges and before I asked for my explanation of prices another couple was questioning their check for unexplained charges. Seems like they jacked up prices over the past few months. I've been there multiple times and prices were fair, not sure what happened but I won't be returning. Just make sure you ask the prices on everything before you order. Also, look at the check before paying, they overcharged for my bowl of oatmeal and had the price for Barry's added when they came and told me there were no more berries but they still tried to charge me. Huge disappointment! We also ordered a 2 + 2 + 2 meal but only got one of each item. The toast was burnt and hard. I don't recommend this place unless you just have...
