We really love SLO Public Market. Great selection of food; there's something for everyone. Bing's Bao Buns is a real gem. Bottlecraft has great beer and an outstanding wine bottle selection. There's a great buzz in the atmosphere without too much noise and excessive commotion.
The one major ding was a change to the policy of allowing downstairs purchased beer and wine upstairs. The market has given Todo Bueno a monopoly on alcohol upstairs. This goes against the whole public market "something for everybody" spirit of the facility. It's such a damn shame. Todo's options pale in comparison to Bottlecraft downstairs. Upstairs has a beautiful large outdoor patio that is now off limits to those who choose a drink downstairs.
We used to hold book club meetings upstairs where it was quieter and tables more available. But we've not been back since...

The only complaint I have about the public market is the semi-inconsistent hours I’ve seen from the businesses inside. I’ve driven all the way from Santa Maria and on google the hours say open but when you get there some restaurants will close for a lunch break or will be gone for two weeks on vacation. I would recommend updating your google hours (@local businesses) if your restaurant isn’t open.

The location was much larger than expected, with a beautifully designed outdoor terrace. Inside, we tried the carbonara and a chicken sandwich. While the prices were on the higher side, the quality definitely made up for it. The variety of options was impressive—boba shops, ice cream, Chinese and Italian restaurants, and even a bar.
Oh, and if you’re planning to order the chicken sandwich from Jay Bird’s, make sure you can handle spicy food! Their extra spicy option includes ground ghost peppers and jalapeños, so think carefully before diving in. If you’re on a road trip, this is a fantastic place to take a break and recharge, both your car...
