I could talk about the service, or the various amazing sandwich options, or their proximity to San Mateo and walkable status. All of these things are great about Ike's. But I won't talk about that. I want to talk about feelings. That feeling of driving over the speed limit for the first time. Witnessing a baby seagull steal a piece of trash. Flipping the tongue of your shoe so it's flat against your foot after walking with it all folded wrong for a bit. These all pale in comparison to the emotional ride you're in for when the Matt Cain sandwich from Ike's slams into your tongue. The highs. The lows. Actually there aren't lows. It's all highs. Just higher and higher highs. Seriously. Get the Matt Cain.

First time was awesome! The sandwhich was so bomb and yummy and they carried my Favorite drink and chips there which paired great. Favorite new sandwich spot that I'm glad my dude took me to. I can't eat meat and i was pleased that they had so many different options. Even if it came with meat, on the menu it says just ask them and they can rearrange it but the vegan options they had was enough for me. Overall one of my new favorite places to eat and i can't wait to check out the other locations. My dude also told me about some interesting facts about the menu. A+ for me

SO much yum. These sandwiches are HUMONGOUS and delicious. I love the saucier ones. Spiffy Tiffy - the mushrooms on top of this make the sandwich, and I love that they mix the pesto into the shredded chicken as opposed to just putting it on the bread of the sandwich. I don't love having avocado on a hot sandwich though, or, I wish it was put on after the toasting part. Skogee The Kaveman - the buffalo sauce on this is so addicting. Perfectly toasted, and I recommend the wheat roll. It's impossible to go wrong here. If you're not starving, share one with a friend!

I recently had the pleasure of ordering from the DT San Mateo location via DoorDash, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. As someone who follows a gluten-free diet, I'm always a bit cautious when it comes to ordering sandwiches, but the Spiffy Tiffy exceeded all expectations. I specifically requested my sandwich to be extra toasted to ensure the texture of the gluten-free bread was just right, and Zeferino, the staff member responsible for my order, truly delivered. Not only was the bread perfectly toasted, but the amount of ingredients packed inside was generous and satisfying. What truly set this experience apart was Zeferino's attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction. Upon calling to express my gratitude, Zeferino was incredibly humble and gracious, further exemplifying the outstanding service provided by this establishment. For those within the gluten-free community, you'll understand the excitement of finding a sandwich that not only meets your dietary needs but exceeds your taste expectations. I highly recommend the Spiffy Tiffy sandwich from this location to anyone seeking a delicious and gluten-free dining experience. Thank you, Zeferino, and the team at this location, for making this order a...

Had a Groupon for Ike's San Mateo ($17 for 4 Groupon's all worth $7) so checked it out on Sunday afternoon 5/28/2017 around 2pm. Of note, Ike's opens pretty early. 6:30am on Fridays.

Got to Ike's. Not much parking in the parking lot, but plenty of parking on the street. First thing I notice when inside is it's pretty small. But that's ok cause it seems like 99% of the people got their sandwiches to-go. The line was pretty long, but only took like 5 minutes before we were at the register. Ike's has many different sandwiches, and they all sound good. Also, they have a gluten free bread.

I ordered the Iffy Tiffy, which is chicken breast, avocado, cheese and mushrooms. My boyfriend got some kind of tuna sandwich. We got a #18 to go and one other I don't recall.

Our sandwiches were delicious. Definitely worth the $. With our Groupon 4 sandwiches came to $32. Not bad. These were some of the best sandwiches I've had. You must check it out if you're a sandwich addict like I am.

I knocked off 1 star because it took forever for them to clean off our table, which I asked them to do, and also because the cashier wasn't friendly. He wasn't rude or anything, just not friendly. But regardless,...

I'm thankful that this sandwich chain has vegetarian options which are more than vegetables on bread. I know not all vegetarians like meat substitutes, but it's hard to get decent protein on a sandwich without them. The available meat substitutes vary a bit from one Ike's shop to the next. This one in San Mateo has vegan meatballs, veggie bacon and vegan chicken. It would be nice if they had the vegan turkey slices that some of the other Ike's have, but they still have more vegetarian and vegan options than most sandwich shops out there.

Some of my favorites are the Meatless Mike (vegan meatballs and marinara), Purple Bee (vegan bacon BLAT) and the Handsome Owl (vegan chicken with teriyaki and wasabi mayo. Their Dutch crunch roll goes perfectly with...
