Hundal Sahib Fish & Chips — Restaurant in San Pablo

Oh so very good. Found this place by chance while traveling thru the area. First off the place is clean and the lady running the place is very friendly and helpful. They have a good menu selection and the portions are large. The fish, we had the Cod and shrimp, was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside with the perfect amount of breaking and very little residual oil. The food wasn't cooked till we ordered it and even with that in mind the service was fast. The tarter sauce was very good and they give you a spray bottle of good viniger so you can get just the right amount without accidentally drowning your fish. The icing on top was the home made cocktail sauce. Lots of horseradish and oh so tasty. If I had to offer any constructive thought it would be that the shrimp was a bit over breaded for my taste but that did not detract from the over all great experience. We don't come by this way often but when we do we will stop at HS for a meal. Oh almost forgot. The onion rings were good home made hand battered and the fried cauliflower was very yummy. I went there today and I got what I normally get. However, I have not been there probably all year and I don’t know if the ownership has changed or not but my food was horrible. It had no taste. The fries were oily soggy and I paid like 40 something close to $50 for my order and they barely even came with fries and the fries they did I get were soggy from the oil from everything being on top of it. I also got the mushrooms which I normally get but for some reason these mushrooms were cut up instead of it being a whole mushroom, it was horrible. They were cooked too hard and my fish had no flavor to it. It was not worth my money at all. The only good thing was the customer service. There was good but everything that the food was horrible don’t do it. I’m really mad because I spent $14 on a quart of ice cream and when I opened it, it looks like someone already ate out of it. I had the pollock as the cod was sold out. The serving size was plenty but I am sure most people would be disappointed with price and amount of fish (2pcs;$22) as other fish restaurants have several pieces in an order. I enjoyed this twist as you get a choice of fried veggie plus fries. The fish was very fresh and cooked to perfection! They had signs in restaurant saying they use fresh oil daily and a eye opening fact that McDonald's uses 12 ingredients to make their 🍟 crispy. Yuck!

All and all I will be back for sure! Much better than fast food! My only complaint would be that a side of coleslaw was $7. I don't know how big it was but please offer smaller side for a lower price or include a small size in orders. Also most places include bread and 🍋 and hot sauce that would have been...
