Restaurant: Himalayan Kitchen 227 3rd St San Rafael CA 94901
Main Question: Is the food worth the price?
Answer: Definitely
Wait Time: None today
Food: Good size on food. We enjoyed the food. If you ordering the lamb, order it one to two steps below where you would like it. We ordered hours medium and it came out well done. It was still delicious come up but that's the reason for the four stars.
We ordered the Large daal soup. I loved this soup. My guest, who does not like lentils, liked the soup.
I ordered the steamed veggies and brown rice and mixed them together and it was excellent.
We had the steamed Momo Platter and while I like that, my guest thought it was okay.
I had steamed broccoli on the side. It was very clean tasting as well.
Atmosphere: I liked the atmosphere. It is a smaller place but they take the time to make it look very nice.
Cleanliness: The plates were cleaned. The silverware was clean. The glasses were clean.
The bathroom was the cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in a restaurant. This was even near closing and these bathrooms were spotless. This is going to move him up to a 5 star.
Service: The service was great. There was a combination of three people that helped us. It was quite an experience and different from the typical one server takes care of the customer a typical restaurants.
Price: This meal was $66.77 before tip.

Read moreVisited with high expectations. But was a bit disappointing. The menu is pretty overpriced compared to the taste. Picked up the following: Pork momo- Decent dumpling size but the momos were little hard. Chicken Momo- This was nice. Slow cooked chicken and the momos were tender. Classic chicken curry- Disappointing. Very blunt in taste. Chicken felt stale and cooked in a haste. No hint of garam masala, gg paste and aromatic spices. Garlic Naan- Soft and tender. Dal Soup- This is is horrible. Just boiled yellow lentils with lots of garlic and tomatoes.
Avoid if u have other options. 04/09/2023- Sadly couldnt find a better way to reply to this arrogant restaurant owner who forgot his nepali roots I think. I am not spreading misinformation. Buddy, you are so prejudiced that you even took my positive reviews 2,4 and defended yourself against it. I am from a border Indian state to Nepali and I think I know nepalese cuisine better than what you fed me. Yes I could not recognise the carrots in your daal soup as because you boiled it to such an extent that it become tomatoes. Buddy I know nepali style chicken curry. You have to make it with the skin. Anyway you wont understand as your customer base is different and keep them pleased. No point of arguing as I wont return. Loosing one odd customer like me wont make much difference to you I...

We ordered our food to go for a staff event. Everyone, even our pickiest eaters, enjoyed the selections. All the food is fragrant, bursting with flavor, and not oily. The saag paneer cubes are tastier and more flavorful than any we've had before, as is the spinach in that dish! It's traditional, yet lighter Indian style, and, therefore, different in a significant way! The butter chicken was so delicious. We ordered mild for those who can't handle the heat, but the spices were still abundant. Everything was flavorful and created with much care and love. The chow mein was a BIG hit, too! There were rave reviews all around!
Our group didn't dine in the restaurant, but I noticed cheery, artful lighting and cleanly furnished spaces while visiting for our order. I also saw a quiet little nook with a cluster of small tables behind the front desk wall, which looked cozy and inviting! This restaurant is a stellar place with caring staff and delicious food! Five STARS +++'s for...
