Vn Noodle Grill — Restaurant in San Rafael

Ended up in the EMERGENCY ROOM. Celiac Disease is a real autoimmune disease that killed 30% of children before the Gluten Free diet was discovered. Some of the servers and kitchen staff misinformed me that a dish was GF. I asked them to check with the kitchen and even so was misinformed.

When I ate the dish I ended up in the Emergency Room with Anaphylaxis. Still not realizing that this restaurant was the issue I ate there again a few weeks later and was sick for 10 days unable to work.

I went to the restaurant to speak with the manager because I wanted to give them an opportunity to educate their staff so this wouldn't happen again, rather than leaving a bad review.

The staff there told me they knew which items were GF (and they did). But NOT ALL the staff knows. They suggested I was mistaken. Excuses but no apologies were given.

I was given the manager's phone number which I called. I left a message asking him to call me and what it was related to and did so in a friendly and constructive manner.

I got no response. The restaurant doesn't care that their staff's lack of knowledge could have killed me.

This restaurant uses Chinese egg roll wrappers instead of traditional Rice Paper wrappers on it's fried Imperial Rolls. Vietnamese food is generally Gluten Free.

The dish is not only inauthentic but dangerous to those with Celiac or...

I took my adventurous 8 yr old here for new flavors and boy did we get them. We ordered some funky drink with taro, lychee, red bean (paste or flavor i assumed but there were literally red bean chunks...), boba (advertised but I had zero boba in mine), coconut milk, and etc. Sooo since I liked all of these flavors gave it a try but it was really odd ball concoction. Looked like chunky vomit and texture refirmed the feeling...but it tasted ok. I scared the 8 yr old.

But we ordered a hong kong style crunchy dish with veggies and beef broth. That was savory and comforting.

Well my son loves chow mein and we kind of wanted a chow mein style grill but will try to order that next time.

We also order coconut prawns as expected. And veggie chow mein.

Prices were right. Portions...

This is solely based on this experience. I have been going here for 4 years now never had an issue. But this one is a doozie for me. Ordered over the phone, said 15 to 20 min. Go to get 20 min later and they don't even have order in. So they put in and get us our food. As I'm eating I see this shiny thing in the chicken, I pull it out of the rest of the food and it's a piece of metal stuck in the chicken!!! Are you kidding me. Not going back here for awhile. Here's to hoping that's the only piece since I'm...
