The Mayflower Pub — Restaurant in San Rafael

On a recent Thursday night we tried this place. The service was very good and so was the food but the atmosphere ruined my evening. It was hot and stuffy, the fans were not running but what killed my good mood was the trivia contest. The pa system was up so loud we couldn't talk amongst ourselves and the mc was so slow and labored every question, asking them repeatedly and reiterating every question 4 times and more. This mc had music samples cued up on a recording which he replayed during the time between announcements which seemed to make no sense. They somehow managed to stretch out the asking of a dozen questions over an hour and a half without a break except to hear the mc rattle on endlessly like a DJ who can't get enough of hearing his on voice on speaker.

Good food and nice staff. Unfortunately i feel like i really should comment on the bathrooms. The main door doesn't lock for it to be a single stall and the stall door doesn't cover anything, nor does it lock, it's just like a swinging cowboy door that you have to hold and pray no one walks in. I feel like this could be really dangerous especially for trans people like myself. Also they gave us some of the wrong food (my burger was more well done then medium rare, and they gave my mom a different sauce for her fish and chips) but it honestly turned out better than what we had ordered and so i really cant fault them for that, and the mistakes were hardly noticeable. My wife and I stopped by here on our way back from Fairfax. I figured we would stop by here and grab a drink before heading home. By the photos, the place looked really nice.

Unfortunate, the service was horrible, there was a young white man who is the bartender who is not friendly or courteous at all.

Also, there is another bar tender who appears to be Pacific islander Maybe samoan lady who was just on her phone the entire time. Never once did they ask how are drinks were, if we wanted any food. They made us feel really unwelcome. We only took a few sips of our drinks and left due to the...
