The food was good. San Rafael has a variety of authentic diners.
I really did not feel welcome or comfortable here.
I visited twice. The first time was for a lunch. The second time was for a dinner.
Both times were dine in. It seemed odd to order and then pay and tip before eating at this style of restaurant.
It is not all necessarily fast food. I had an uncomfortable feeling while standing to view the menu. As though the cashier was growing impatient with my studying to decide.
Both times I was greeted by my server with, "I do not understand", "I do not speak english". I was just looking for a more detail description of the ingredients on what I ordered and a glass of ice water in addition to my drink and meal. I got neither.
The meals were good, and I assume authentic. But, I just do not understand not having hosts, or server, or employee availability for customers that are not fluent in speaking Spanish. I try to accommodate with what few words I know, but a little help would be nice.

Just did not feel a good vibe here.

Enchiladas also subpar (sauce was probably from a can) almost $20. Horrible fake margaritas, tasted like country time lemonade and had table salt on the rim. If they’re going to charge these prices, they should use decent ingredients. I would have tried a soup, but not for $18. I’d rather go to a different taqueria for a cheaper meal, or go to a nice restaurant...
