Absolutely delightful time at Shiro Kuma.

Went around dinner time, wasn't too busy. Was seated right away. Chairs are comfortable, table was clean.

Ordered a nice sampling of their sushi to try a bit of everything. The Miso was piping hot and the edamame was nicely salted, not too heavy. I couldn't help but begin to enjoy the Miso and edamame before taking this picture!

Dining area picked up with more guests, the speed and diligence of the staff did not diminish slightly. They were attentive and refilling drinks before needing to ask.

The sushi was delicious, almost creamy with how fresh it was. Some sushi restaurants can be hit or miss between the types of fish, but Shiro Kuma was constantly high quality throughout. The rice for the nigiri was well portioned, not too much to overpower the fish, not to little to feel like sashimi. I traditionally do not like hand rolls but this won me over.

LGBTQ friendly!

I'll definitely...

ChirashiStars exists to elevate the art of Chirashi in the US and beyond. The Revolution begins now.

There are 5 Pillars of Chirashi:

⭐️Quality (freshness, flavor) ⭐️Variety (mix of fish, other ingredients) ⭐️Presentation (is it a joy to behold) ⭐️Service (the dining experience) ⭐️Value (was price appropriate)

Location: Shiro Kuma Sushi, San Rafael, CA

Item reviewed: Large Chirashi, weekday lunch hour. Price $25.

Quality: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Variety: ⭐️⭐️ Presentation: ⭐️⭐️ Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Value: ⭐️⭐️

Overall ChirashiStars Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️

Recommendation: Improve variety by adding at least one special ingredient and improve presentation by including at least one aesthetic flourish. $25 price point for a lunch Chirashi is rather expensive for the region, especially for such a...

Wasn't bad, wasn't great. Kinda just right. I don't want to pick them apart because times are tough. They could do better though.

The restaurant was pretty empty when I walked in, party of 1. Understanding they wanted to keep 4 top tables open for the dinner crowd, they sat me at a two top. Unfortunately it was in a narrow area where delivery drivers and customers pick up orders. It was disruptive to my dining experience and I suggested they avoid seating customers here unless absolutely necessary. He shrugged it off.

The menu was great except they didn't offer a Bento Box dinner, but no biggie. The food was OK, not great. Not bad.

They were also out of any red wine and a couple of preferred beers. So that.

This place seems great, hope they find...

With all these high ratings I expected to be impressed, but unfortunately I was not. The kuma balls sounded interesting, but were underwhelming; the lion king roll was flavorless; the dragon roll was decent, but too saucy. There was only 1 waitress during our lunch and it was difficult to get her attention or assistance.
