As someone who has been a regular at Chopan Kabob for over 5+ years, I cannot recommend this Afghani restaurant in San Ramon, CA enough! From the moment you step inside, you are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making you feel like you're part of the family.
The food at Chopan Kabob is simply amazing. The Chapli Kabobs, both the chicken and beef versions, are absolutely delicious. The combination of spices and flavors is truly unique and addicting. The Bolani is a savory turnover filled with potatoes and herbs that is crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. The Mantu is another dish that is a must-try. It's so good that our family often fights over the last one! These delicate dumplings are filled with spiced ground beef and onion and topped with a yogurt sauce and seasoned oil. The Tandoori Fish is another standout dish. The seasoning on the fish is so good that it's hard to stop eating it! The fish is perfectly cooked, tender and flaky, and the spices really elevate the flavor.
If you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent, the Kabuli Palow is a must-try. It's my daughter's favorite dish and she always requests it when we come to Chopan Kabob. Whenever I have a work meeting during lunchtime, the family special is my go-to. It's a generous serving of a variety of kabobs and sides, perfect for sharing with colleagues or friends. And if you're a vegetarian, the spinach Sabzi Chalow and Banjan Borani are both absolutely delicious.
But it's not just the food that makes Chopan Kabob special. The owner is one of the nicest, most humble people you'll ever meet. He takes great pride in his restaurant and his culture, and it really shows in the quality of the food and the service.
And let's not forget about the desserts! The in-house made kheer, or rice pudding, is creamy and comforting, and the perfect way to end a meal.
Overall, if you're looking for authentic and delicious Afghani cuisine in San Ramon, CA, you absolutely must try Chopan Kabob. The quality of the ingredients, the care that goes into every dish, and the warm and welcoming atmosphere all make Chopan Kabob a...
Read moreCertainly! Here’s a more engaging and polished version of your review that will impress the store owner:
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this incredible afghan kabob restaurant, and it was an experience worth sharing. We called ahead to order Bolani, and I was impressed by how smoothly everything was handled—our order was ready and waiting when we arrived.
From the moment we placed our kabob order, it was clear that this restaurant takes pride in its craft. The kabob were cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and grilled just right. Every bite was a delight, and the quality of the ingredients truly stood out.
One detail that really elevated the experience for me was the sumac shaker on the table. It’s a small touch, but it showed the restaurant’s commitment to authenticity and flavor.
Without a doubt, this is a 10/10 spot for kabob, and I’ll definitely be coming back for more....
Read moreI was so pleasantly surprised by the tender, flavorful plates from here today. You can taste everything is made by hand in the kitchen, from the Naan, to the tikka masala and the lamb. Omg the lamb...I was gnawing on the bones like some wild man who hasn't eaten in days. Family run business. I would recommend stopping by anytime for eat in, takeout or having them prep meat to eat at a party/BBQ. Omg the lamb. The flavor of the tikka masala sauce really accentuates the pilaf. Lastly, Baklava, did you know he makes it himself and he used to own a bakery. I really can't emphasize the tender flavor where the honey oozes out. I tried it, ate more, then realized, "oh a pic would have helped" if I weren't such a T-rex eating first n...
