I had read multiple negative reviews about this place. Still, I decided to pay a visit here, for my love for Daal Bati Churma. I had this dish maybe once or twice, and was longing for that. Since this restaurant had it on its menu, I decided to go. I went there on Sunday, at lunch time. The restaurant was empty. That should have been a red flag, to begin with. Also, it's a pretty small place - maybe 5 tables (that too, empty). My heart was telling me to run away, whereas my mind was telling me otherwise. In the end, my mind won this battle - only to repent, in the end. I ordered daal bati churma, as pre-determined. Dish arrived in a reasonable time. It had 4 Baatis, daal and Churma. Baatis were soaked in ghee. Curious, I gave it a try, hoping for love at first bite. Alas. The baati was really hard and chewy, as if it was asking my teeth: hey! show me what you got. I could barely eat 1 out of 4 baati. I looked up on google what does this all mean. Google answer: either bati is stale or not made properly. Hmm. Daal was ok, but lukewarm. I was looking for piping hot daal. Churma laddoo was ok too, with nothing much to go wrong with it. So, I ended up eating two churma laddoo with daal. Definitely not worth my 20 bucks. Given that its a small place with not much deco, the price and quality doesn't match. Something is off. Anyway. I don't think I am going...
Read moreI was in the San Ramon area on February 15th to meet my friend visiting from Texas. While looking for a casual dining spot for lunch, I stumbled upon Dilli-6 and Iâm so glad I did! I had never heard of it before, but I must admit, the food was outstanding.
Being from North India, I was familiar with most of the dishes but hadnât tried a few before. The Daal Baati Choorma was absolutely the bomb, so hearty that it could be a meal on its own! But since my friend and I are foodies, we went all in, ordering a variety of dishes and spending over two hours enjoying great food and conversation. Some of the absolute standouts were: Kachauri & Paneer chilli, Daal Makhani with Lachha Paratha and Jalebi & Shahi Tukda.. toooo good!! We definitely over-ordered, but no regretsâit made for an amazing next-day lunch. The cherry on top? The restaurant owner was incredibly polite and welcoming, even offering to take our pictures!
I meant to write this review earlier, but I wanted to test for consistency so yesterday, I made a special trip back with my family. Tried their chole bhature and they were finger licking. Safe to say, Dilli-6 is now officially my go-to spot! Highly...
Read moreThis is a great spot for anyone craving authentic Rajasthani and North Indian vegetarian food in the Bay Area. They offer a delicious Dal Baati Churma combo on Saturdays and Sundays, which is a must-try for anyone who enjoys rich, traditional Indian flavors. The Ker Sangri combo is another specialty that stands out for its taste and authenticity.
One of the highlights here is their Dal Kachoriâprobably one of the best you can find in the Bay Area. Itâs crispy, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. I also tried the Pineapple Paneer Tikka, which had a nice balance of flavors, though I wish they included more pineapple pieces to enhance the tangy-sweet contrast.
For dessert, the Brownie with Ice Cream was a pleasant surprise. While it wasnât served sizzling, it still tasted greatâespecially if you have a sweet tooth. Another unique aspect is that they serve beer alongside vegetarian food, which is quite rare and makes for a fun dining experience. They start serving tiffins in nearby local area.
Overall, itâs a cozy and flavorful place with a unique mix of traditional Indian dishes and modern pairings. Iâd definitely recommend visiting for a relaxed...
