The quality of both the food and service at Origami has significantly declined.
During a recent visit, I ordered a VEGGIE tempura wrap and was shocked to find that the wrap was laced with bits of fish eggs: (In the rice, in the wrap, even in the bag.) Unfortunately, this wasn’t an isolated incident—on a previous visit, we found imitation crab in another veggie wrap.
It is evident that Origami does not value cleanliness nor their customers. These repeated mistakes clearly suggest that workstations are not properly cleaned and that there is a serious lack of care in food preparation. For those with dietary restrictions or allergies, this poses a real health risk. Simply put, disgusting and lazy.
It's odd that the restaurant appears to be expanding their location; because with such a disregard of BASIC food safety and lack of value for their customers, they won't be open very long.
In regards to service: the younger register staff needs to be trained better, rude and don't seem to want to be there. It's alright, if the restaurant keeps up with these actions, then no one will be...
Read moreExcellent quality healthy and authentic Japanese food at affordable prices. Service is fast (usually 10-15 minutes wait, but sometimes only 5!) And the place is very clean.
Very good spot for a date, or lunch/dinner with your parents. Also a great everyday lunch spot. I try to eat here once a week at least - when I need a healthy meal Asian style.
My favorite is the miso soup and side salad, add a rice and it's under $10. There are many food options in the $10-15 range for a full meal. My favorite soup is the vegetable udon noodle soup. I also like that they have soda pop available with no artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup, so I can enjoy a soda sometimes without feeling too guilty about it.
The sushi is also great, and the teriyaki dishes yummy.
Best overall restaurant for healthy Asian food that isn't expensive and you can eat here any day, their open for business hours...
Read moreI was craving teriyaki chicken, so used google to find a nearby restaurant. Origami had good reviews, and we hadn't tried it before. It is small and informal, but clean and well kept inside. You order at the counter and sit down. The girl at the counter was helpful and friendly. Our order-- Miso soup: tasty and a good size-- good value for the price. Teriyaki chicken: Delicious. So many places have teriyaki sauce that is extremely salty or over sweet. This had just the right sweetness and saltiness, and was intensely savory. Just right for my taste. Scallop Bake: Very good. I was worried about the imitation crab but it complemented the dish. Takes a while to prepare, but came right at the end of everything else. Tempura: Very good. I've had better but nothing bad about this. Wanted to try the rolls or wraps, but we were already stuffed with the good portions. We...
