Sharing this review because when I mailed my membership renewal check to the corporate address in WA-state (on 5/22), it wasn't received. So, my membership was cancelled. I found out they never did receive my check in the mail, when I went shopping at the Danville location and my card was denied. So, I renewed at membership services there/Danville. Weird thing, they cashed my mailed check the day after I renewed at this store (3-months later).
When I called the 800# customer service line, supposedly at corporate/WA-state (waited almost 20-minutes on hold) and they told me they couldn't do anything. They stated the Danville location would have my refund check when I re-visited there. I called Danville ahead of time and no one could help me. I had to wait for a call from the membership manager/Mary. She did call me to say she would look into it and get back to me by close of business that day. Never did hear back from her. Their customer service is terrible. Word to the wise, don't ever mail your Costco renewal notice. Take it to your local store and renew there.
I should have been mailed a refund check, as soon as Costco found out I double-payed. Not jump thru their hoops for getting a refund at a store location (which never was confirmed). Simply idiotic.
To finish this out. I never did hear back from anyone in Danville. So, I called. I was told the person/Mary handling my issue was off for the next few days. And that was the day after she committed to get back to me. So, she took time off and left me hanging.
Next time I go to Costco, I will be canceling my membership (x2=$120). What a total farce these folks are in customer service. Not only did the corporate office point the finger at the local store/Danville, but then the local store pointed the finger back at corporate. Totally frustrating me in the process. But, they didn't care. This was a very simple problem/solution and I was (basically) ignored. If you don't shop at Costco a lot (like me), I would seriously think about not renewing your membership over something like this. They/Costco got my membership $ (x2) and did nothing to help me solve the problem and/or expedite a refund. It's scary to think if they couldn't handle this very simple issue, how hard it would be to get satisfaction from a much bigger issue?
My conclusion, is that both corporate and the Danville store location are incompetent/customer service. Both gave me bogus information about the other and did absolutely nothing to help me. I would also be very careful mailing your membership renewal to the corporate/WA-state location. They "lost" my check for 3-months and then cashed it the day after I renewed my membership at the Danville location. Coincidence? Hard to believe it was? My only regret, I did not charge them interest on the $ they owed me for 3...
Read moreMy initial rating of this business would be 5 stars but I have to knock it down to 3 after my interaction today. I initially did all of my testing with Ramoune Zukowski, who I found to be incredibly thorough and careful. She helped me pick out hearing aids that would fit my hearing loss, explained thoroughly how to use, clean, and care for them. She mention I would need to come in every few months for additional cleaning and to have the tips changed. About a week ago, my left hearing aid started buzzing. At first it was subtle but it got worse over the next few days. I tried calling the Hearing Aid Center to set up an appointment to go in and have the tips replaced (I assumed that was the problem), but no one ever answered the phone or responded to the messages I left. So on Sunday I checked their hours on their voice mail, after calling again. It said they were open until 6pm. So I headed over there. I should say that this is not a short drive. I live about 25-45 minutes away, depending on traffic. I got there at 5:30, rushed over to the Hearing Aid Center to be greeted by a woman who greeted my by immediately barking out, "WE'RE CLOSED. I JUST CLOCKED OUT." I replied, "Your phone message says 6pm" (it's 5:30 at this point, so staying open another 30 minutes so she could abide by their advertised hours, rather than knocking off 30 minutes early seemed kind of petty to me.) I spoke to the supervisor on duty, who was no help. I get it. Evidently she was the only one working. He co-worker was sick. However, 30 minutes??? C'mon. You can't hang in there for 30 minutes so you can stick to the hours that are clearly advertised? That's ridiculous. So, 5 stars for Ramoune Zukowski, and if I could give 0 stars for my interaction today I would. That would be 2.5, but I'm rounding up. 3 stars. UPDATE: I went to the “Hayward North” Costco location to hopefully get my hearing aid fixed because I was close to that location the other day. The woman working there was very generous with her time and willing to take a look. She discovered that the last time I had maintenance done on my hearing aids (at Costco Danville) they had made a mistake. They had swapped the tubes that go from the aids into my ears. So, all this time I had been wearing the wrong aid in each ear. My hearing is different in my ears, so having the correct aid in is really important. She fixed the problem quickly and most importantly with grace and compassion. 5 stars for Costco Hayward North but I’m knocking my rating off Costco Danville down to 2 stars because I’ve been wearing the wrong hearing aids...
Read moreI've shopped a lot of SF Bay Area Costcos (Richmond, 2 in South City, Foster City, San Leandro, Mt View, Daly City, Redwood City, Concord to name a few).
This one in Danville is the best one of all because friendly staff and their high customer service standards. I've been shopping here off and on since 2006. They carry all the same stuff, but the way this one is laid out, the wait time at the registers is always less than 5 mins even during crazy Holiday Season, they sell 3 scoops of gelato in a waffle cone at $1.49 at their food court makes this location a winner.
Today, I came in and they had a full fledge poke (huge chunks of seasoned huge sashimi grade fish) bar now just like the Costcos in Hawaii!! Nicely displayed in a refrigerated case with a Costco employee at the counter to get you what you what you want besides the cooked crab, lobster, prawns and the other raw seafoods.
6/29/2017 Update: Past couple of months, this location has a USDA Prime Beef Glass Display Case with a Costco butcher to wrap up the beef. Bone-in ribeye steaks are Costco-sized--HUGE and THICK. Also sells beef short ribs by the lb and NY Steaks. Prices are very reasonable.
3/10/2018: Starting Mar 19, Costco will open 1 hour earlier- 9 am, instead of 10 am
9/8/2019 update: Costco reconfigured their Food Court and added a Optical Center and now has an on-site Optometrist.
10/23/2020 -- Kaiser Permanente members can now go get their flu shots at the Costco Pharmacy! No need to go a Kaiser Medical Office. Go to the Pharmacy Drop Off Counter and ask to get your flu shot (during flu season) of flu nasal mist. 3 year olds and up are eligible. Hand over your Kaiser card, fill out the vaccination form, they will scan your temp, sit you down, and give...
