Shameful. This place is a hot mess. Myself and my wife arrived there and were told by the host (whose name is Jeremy, and apparently he's also the GM there) that the high tops at the bar were self-seating. Upon locating a table, I noticed it hadn't been bussed off yet, the table still had half drank beers and somebody else's leftovers on it, so I lingered around it for 5 minutes or so hoping it would be bussed off. Well, it wasn't.
I then went to the host stand and ask for some spray so I could bus my own table, and the general manager, Jeremy, refused to give me spray to clean off my table and told me the bartenders would "get to it when they get to it."
So I went back to my table, and cleaned it off as best I could with no spray (somebody else's crusty food was still caked all over the table, but I'm not that picky). We then sat there for about 10 more minutes without being greeted. When I approached the bar, I was greeted by a stalky African American gentleman. I informed him that I had just bussed off my own table, and asked him if we could get some menus and possibly a server.
The bartender gave me an attitude and walked away, then he told me "I'm trippin" in some kind of hood dialect you would expect to hear in the housing projects of Chicago.
For the prices they charge, this place has incredibly low standards of service. You would think that a place with such a prime location would be operating like a well-oiled machine from the top down. But with a general manager that tells you after 15 minutes of sitting in a table without being greeted that "the bartenders will get to you when they get to you," and a mouthy bartender with a bad attitude who openly insults customers when they ask for menus, it's no wonder this particular location does not measure up to any standard of the hospitality industry today.
Save yourself the anxiety and drive a mile outside the park to Texas Roadhouse, where the food is delicious and the service is five...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe invited our daughter and son in law to try Famous Daveās at the new location. We loved when it was in Cedar Point, so curious to see how the new location was. When we walked in the greeter was trying to get seating for about 17 people. He didnāt seem too confident in what he was doing so maybe he was new. We sat down at the table at 3:05. It took 20 minutes for our server to at least get a drink order for us. There was one other table she was waiting on and it was not busy. My son ordered water with lemons. She forgot the lemons and it took about 15 minutes for her to return. We gave her our order and then we waited. She hardly checked on us. When she did it was to bring more water and said the food order was pending. We waited until 4:05 and still no food. My daughter went to the bathroom and the server told her the food was coming. At no time did anyone else check on us. We were the only diners in that area, so too busy not the issue. We finally told the waitress to get the manager. He was apologetic as he said he had noticed our food order was behind. If he knew this , why couldnāt he have come to our table and talk to us? We were so frustrated we said we were leaving. We would pay for the 6 muffins we did get and drinks. He said there would be no charge. Did we want maybe our food to go? At this point we were so frustrated we said we are leaving. We would not recommend this restaurant at this time. Not sure if staffing or kitchen help is the issue. At this point it was obvious that this place is not up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was so excited to see Famous Daveās open in Sandusky, especially in such a great waterfront location! We were really looking forward to trying it out. I even called ahead to confirm that the patio was pet-friendly, and was happy to hear that it was.
Unfortunately, our visit didnāt go as we hoped. When my husband and I arrived, we went to the bar area and werenāt greeted or given any direction. We werenāt sure if we should wait to be seated or just pick a spot, so after asking, we were told to sit anywhere. We chose a table near the water ā the whole reason we came!
Shortly after, a server came outside and asked if weād checked in with the host. We explained that we had spoken to the bartender, who said to sit wherever. The server left, and no one came back. After waiting, my husband went to ask the bartenders if anyone would be helping us. Thatās when the server came out again, and we were told the section we were in was closed, so we needed to move. This meant packing up all of our things ā including our dogās setup ā to relocate.
Meanwhile, we could hear the bartenders and server arguing about the situation, including comments about it being too hot outside and some unnecessary language. At that point, we felt unwelcome and decided to leave.
Sadly, weāll never get that 20 minutes back, and it felt like no one really wanted to help. Disappointing, especially since we were so excited...
