I've been in to Angel's several times before and they've never let me down with service or food. The young lady that took my order was very friendly and helpful, as I was a bit undecided as what to get. (I settled on the rib dinner.) The rib dinner includes 4 bones, 3 sides, and bread/ cornbread for $18.99. I ordered a sweet tea with it to wash it down. The sides that I chose were collard greens, black eyes peas, and macaroni & cheese. I began by sampling the cornbread which was fantastic. Lightly crispy yet not over done. I then moved on to the collard greens. I screwed up a little and put salt and pepper on them before I tried them.. don't do that. The greens would have had great flavor on their own. They weren't over done and mushy and they weren't under done either. Once I polished those off, I went to the Mac & Cheese which was absolute perfection! I loved the lightly crisped top and edges. The flavor blend of the cheeses was fabulous. The macaroni was done but not dried out and fried out hard. (There definitely wasn't enough of that for me.) I moved on to the black eyes peas which were pretty decent. Not underdone and mushy or overdone and feeling as if you had a mouthful of bb's either. The flavor was a bit mild and earthy and could have stood a quick splash of pepper sauce. After finishing those, I was feeling a bit 'full' already from the sides, but it was on to the main course and why I was there.. the ribs. The ribs were very moist, flavorful, and juicy! They weren't over seasoned and the hint of barbecue sauce was just enough to add a little flavor but not at the expense of the rib flavors. About my only indifference about the ribs was that the inner rib liner wasn't removed before cooking. It was kind of a good thing that it was still there or else the ribs, as tender as they were, might have fallen completely away from the bones. I was only able to get 2 of the bones down and brought the other 2 home for later, as I was stuffed! The tea that I ordered was sweet but not diabetic coma sweet. It was a perfect refreshment to chase down an incredibly scrumptious meal. They're really good. Maybe give them a shot for...
Read moreI came in with my family, and I'm always looking for new places, plus my terminal is around there. It's nice having local restaurants to enjoy eating at. This was really, really disappointed. Fried chicken was season nicely, but it was a bit dye. My mother likes it that way, me, no. It seems as if it was left under the heat lamp too long. I got BBQ chicken. The BBQ chicken was dark meat, very moist, and seasoned nicely. The bake beans are Bush Baked Beans. Mashed potatoes and green beans wore good. I had to take most of my food home due to having weight loss surgery. I tried to eat some of it today. It all soured, not good. It is a sign of food being too old. I have had this issue with big chain restaurants like Country Pride. Step-dad ordered pulled pork. He had to wait for it because they didn't have any made. He liked the pulled pork. French fries, no seasoning, disappointment, Sonny's BBQ fries. I ordered some fried okra, and they seasoned it with salt, which makes a world of difference, which was good. Drinks were overpriced, $3.99 for one. Sweet tea was sweet tea. The service, the staff was friendly. To be honest, it looked like a lot of CPT happening. However, if they had to cook a lot of the food. It was going to take some time. I did notice them pulling fresh pies out. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Some of the staff was a bit clueless about what to do. There is always something to do. I do wish I got photos, and normally I get photos of my food and/or the restaurant. I'm not sure if they want to turn the space into a half night club or not. As you want in, you have the kitchen in front of you, left of you is a bar looking area (I didn't look too closely), farther left is seating with booths, tables, and chairs. It also had a small stage with few throne look chairs up there. There were boxes all over the stage area a woman was moving out. To your right as you walk in, there is the food. You can get bottled drinks or fountain drinks. The menu needs more details, what I mean is the dinner says what you can get, how many...
Read moreI was greeted coming into the door, and made my way to the menu board. Self seating after you order, I was approached by a gentleman from the back who asked if it was my first visit. I responded yes, and he began to explain the menu options. Very informative. I was pointed to the order line where I was greeted, then was asked for "a second," so she could get to a customer who was not ready to order, that arrived after I did. After realizing he was not ready, sure shifted her attention to me, took my order. The lady at the register pulled up the total and continued to speak to other staff, I swiped, added the tip, then she closed me out. She did not respond before she asked the customer behind me if he wanted cake or something to drink. He asked, "Who me?" OBVIOUSLY I should have asked for a drink, dessert, and where to wait until my order was ready. I hope the food is good for take out next time, definitely left me with an experience that does not compel me to personally return any time soon.
**UPDATE As I was ready to leave, Antonio came again to ask if I planned to eat in, when I let him know about my experience. I'm not going to lie, I was still feeling a type of way, but he insisted on making sure i knew that anything brought to his attention would be remedied. I'm thankful, because of him I did not walk away with resentments, and was able to leave the unresolved energy behind.
Thank you.
