Stopped by this place because my mom said, "Hey, I think there's a boba place back there," and I pretty much burned rubber turning around to get to it. Boba? In Sanford?! Be still my heart!
Lemme say this. This place is cute, cute, cute! Decor? Adorable. Atmosphere? Excellent. Not a ton of indoor seating, but they have tables in two places outside, including in a lovely shaded courtyard. It was super busy when I arrived (late afternoon on a Saturday) and the staff still moved through customers speedily. I noticed they had a drive-thru, but I wanted to look at the menu up close and personal, so I walked in. (Easy parking, btw!)
The menu's extensive. They have your typical milk teas, lots of fruit teas, and even some specials listed on sandwich boards at the front of the shop (when I was there, they had drinks based on astrological signs: so cool). There's a selection of locally made baked goods at the counter. Yum! Rolled ice cream is an option too.
I opted for a tiger milk tea (a combo of milk tea and Thai tea). It came out fast and was very tasty. Boba was slightly overcooked, but only slightly (hey, busy Saturday, I get it), and I can tell it was soaked in brown sugar, which I should have asked about before ordering: it made the drink much, much sweeter than I was anticipating. Thai tea and milk tea are already pretty sweet on their own, and if I'd known the boba was gonna kick it up a notch, I would have asked for reduced sweetness in the tea itself or maybe not gotten boba at all, because the tea was excellent. To be clear, I say this not as a critique of the business, but as a note to future customers who may want to further customize their orders!
Overall experience: very good. I would 100% try more drinks at this place, and I'm picky about my bubble tea, y'all.
Small critiques: slightly overcooked boba. Sticky floor, but I'll say again, it was extremely busy and another customer might have spilled a drink seconds before I walked in, and the staff were busting buns here.
This place is a well-needed shining gem in an otherwise sometimes-dull Sanford. Hit it up...
Read moreI had a nicer review up but the owners response is seems snarky with the caps and what “I could have done or said” during my visit… I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s not meant to sound rude, but that’s how it comes off. I gave positive feedback and criticism because you’re running a business. I don’t know your behind the scenes cleaning regime. So I said something about the way your straws and gloves were handled from what I SAW. I stand by what I said. It is unsanitary to handle the REGISTER with gloves on and then give out unwrapped straws with them too. The young lady placed one of the straws for the drinks directly onto the counter in addition to walking off to the back for a few minutes. As a customer, I don’t know what she’s doing in the back with those same gloves on. Gloves are a precautionary measure and you need to know how to use them properly or don’t wear them. It’s cool to use hand washing methods instead from a customer standpoint. Seems easier than touching a bunch of surfaces and stuff with gloves…then touching people’s straws.
And in response to the owner - From what I can tell I’m not the first person to say something about the straw thing via reviews. On here and other sites. So it clearly may be something others have noticed and dislike too. Hence why I pointed it out :) I see where you let one such person know that you had individually wrapped straws on 5/26 via yelp. So had you said they come wrapped (bc I can’t see behind your counter) I would have most certainly asked. Just didn’t know it was an option! Good luck with your business and have a great...
Read morePlaced a mobile order and then drove to location only to wait in line for 45 min bc 1. I already paid and 2. I was trapped in their drive through. A girl came out to take orders in the line wrapped around the building and asked me what I wanted. I stated I had a mobile order and gave her my name. She said “oh sorry , I’ll see what we can do and get this line moving.” Like what does that even mean? I placed a MOBILE ORDER. Which should be priority? Otherwise what’s the point in placing a mobile order AHEAD of time. Last time I came through it was the same thing and they said it was due to a down blender. I accepted that and had no complaints. But today the girl that brought my order was rude and had nothing to say she even walked away when I was talking to her. As I pulled around to the drive window the lady inside asked me what I wanted. I told her Yhat I placed a mobile order and told the last girl that came out that. They came out like a minute later with my stuff that had been sitting in the counter . It was semi warm and melted and half my drink was WHIP CREAM. I paid almost $20 for TWO SMOOTHIES. And now I’m late to my next appt. To say I’m upset and disappointed is an understatement. From what I saw there were A LOT of unhappy customers today. Get...
