After enjoying First Friday at Hugger Mugger, we were eager to try Downtown Sanford's new kava bar. This was our first encounter with kava, and the experience exceeded every expectation. The bar's warm and inviting atmosphere made it the perfect setting to extend our conversations and enjoy live music.
Casey, the owner and a knowledgeable kava sommelier, provided an exceptional introduction to kava. He graciously shared samples and took the time to educate us about the cultural significance and nuances of the drinks. His genuine enthusiasm and deep understanding transformed our visit into a memorable experience, leaving us both informed and thoroughly impressed.
The drinks were outstanding, and the setting caters to a variety of experiences, from engaging conversations to playing games or watching sports. The outdoor area is equally inviting, featuring a well-designed fire pit and live music on Friday nights. With a rotating lineup of events like trivia, bingo, and family-friendly movie nights, this venue truly shines as a community gathering spot.
Additionally, the ample, well-lit parking provided a sense of safety and convenience that we greatly appreciated. By the time we left, we were feeling hydrated, relaxed, and ready to spread the word about this fantastic addition to Sanford.
And for sports enthusiasts, a standout feature is that the bar remains open until the conclusion of major sporting events!! Itâs an excellent late-night option.

Read moreHad a really nice time trying (and enjoying) kava for the first time. Chloé is super knowledgeable and explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. She helped me pick out a drink and I had fun learning a lot about kava, but also just chatting and learning about so much more - business, world travel, and Sanford and the surrounding area. The other patrons were friendly and we were going around most of the night, but I bet you could come here and chill with a book if you wanted. If you've never had kava, there is nothing to be nervous about! And if you just want a coffee or kombucha, they can hook it up.
Give this place a shot! It's nice to be around open minded people. I could kinda tell that we had different world views and opinions on things (who doesn't?) but everyone was very respectful and actually listened and I feel like this is the kind of place where you can actually connect with people and explore your differences and both people can walk away friends, or at least friendly. The kind of atmosphere and attitude Chloé and Casey promote and cultivate is sorely needed these days and I feel good just knowing this place and these people...
