Most Beautifully curated antique store in Florida playing vintage music! I don’t understand the other reviews always treated to a wonderful experience! My guess would be that shopping Etiquette in their home/ shop was not followed... some of the public behave in a rude fashion in antique/ collectible shops..bad behavior would not be acceptable at Macy’s or another retailer it should not be acceptable here ! I believe also there is a great deal of theft and that becomes tiresome for the couple. My husband and I have been coming here for years and this place e is aTreasure !! It’s the gateway to this gorgeous island ( Nantucket of Florida) pristine beaches excellent food ! THIS IS NOT FORT MYERS ! It’s casual but chic ... put a shirt on keep your voice at an acceptable level ! It’s amazing to me that people try to pull of classless behavior .... just stay in Fort Myers if you can’t Distinguish between a World class beach destinations and the rest of Florida ! I have noticed here there aren’t many Rental folk... this is a high end island of professionals and college educated home owners ... not a party place! Most of the land is in conservation and they don’t even have street lights! Sanibel has the only Blue Ribbon school in Florida ( school are Notoriously very bad ) in Florida! Sanibel always makes the list as a top place to live ... the people here have earned their Peace and quiet be respectful! and don’t steal! Not Walmart nation ! Oh and enjoy this amazing shop ..also ask about the island because I believe this couple can tell you all about the Real Sanibel that most tourist miss out on ... Especially The places where the Islanders Eat !!!!

I love exploring thrift shops. Sanibel Island doesn't seem to have any thrift shops, but they did have this -- the Islander Trading Post Antiques. When you step inside, it is almost overwhelming how every nook and cranny is jammed full of old stuff (but good looking old stuff). It was very pricey -- I couldn't afford anything, including the small back room that has reproductions were pricey -- but it was a not of fun exploring and seeing so many cool old things, and having them bring back memories of my very young childhood. If I ever win the lottery, I will be back!

Filled with everything you could think of. Prices are reasonable. AC is poor, so bring a fan since you will want to spend hours pouring over all of the amazing things they have. Don't be afraid to open the drawers as they are filled with cool things for sale too! Multiple rooms to explore.

Store is essentially a look don’t touch if you want to buy it then pay us double it’s value. A stained WW2 German party flag that you can get for $250? Nah $800. Owner is rather unpleasant to talk to and the female was nice but seemed impatient if you decide you want to take a closer look at items in a case.

The store is filled with a great assortment of relics and items. You could honestly spend hours looking through every nook and cranny. With this being the only store on the island with the next ones being around 45 minutes away, it’s a shame it’s another one owned by an older couple who just want people to look at their stuff.

If your like me and want to go hunting for militaria then honestly avoid it. Lots of things in the store are a little overpriced but not to unreasonable, that is for everything except militaria. The owner knows what he has and isn’t afraid to make prices worse than eBay. You would honestly get better prices for militaria buying from private sellers off Facebook

The two stars was for the store being like a small time capsule on an island. A true treasure trove of antiques. The lack of more stars is due to my interactions with the owner and the prices being high. However in the end it is up to you, you could have a great time and have true conversations with the owner like my grandfather did, or you could have a not so pleasant...

Though it was a lovely antique store, their customer service sucks!!! I dont plan on going back there. I didnt even get a "hello" or a "welcome". I traveled all the way from coral springs, Florida. I was visiting Sanibel and decided to stop by the store after a recommendation from a nealrby resident. The lady who works there is very rude and disrespectful. The way she treat customers is disgusting. I read the reviews, and i thought... Whats the point of having a business if you dont even allow people to look, touch, take pictures/record, or even buy without feeling harassed, or being followed. Which is what happened to me. I was going to buy two vintage printer trays after seeing them displayed at the entrance. Then, i decided to walk around to look at the rest of the store. I asked kindly if i can take pictures, and she rudley yelled "no". Then she follows me a to phone out to pass to him me, and yelled "I SAID NO PICTURES!!!" She not only scared me, but accused me hing i was not doing at all. I told her i was not taking pictures. But that didnt stop her from following us around. My husband and I got so uncomfortable we decided to leave. They dont deserve our business. If you value your time and respect, Please dont waste your time...
