Delicious tacos and elote in Santa Ana! This humble food truck can crank out some seriously tastey food. They hand-make their tortillas here and they're amazing. Highly recommend if you're looking for authentic tacos!

The Kings of Corn, sounds like a bold statement right? It is hard to refute this considering Santa Ana has a high concentration of Mexican food and Mexicans with many more established places, but few in such high regard. Even your grandma thinks it's legit. They've carved out a niche that most leave for the home cooking.

The name makes more sense when you realize their tortilla's are made by hand and they have some elotes that puts people's "OC Fair" notion of elotes to shame. And last but not least if you've never been to Oaxaca and never had Huitlacoche you are missing out.

Now that I've got you hooked please note the lines can get very long and they've been known to run out quick. It's a bit of a walk from my barber shop, but I find them more of a lunch only spot.

Price are reasonable considering the variety and quality of food. Authenticity isn't even in question. The trucks is nice and pretty clean, bright and for the uninitiated they explain some of their more "mysterious" items like their meats and what they are.

They are also known for the elotes in a cup for easier eating, faster imo and cleaner for those on the go. Plenty of flavor and spice is abundant, but not overpowering. Toscilocos are a perfect snack to share as I recommend coming here with others so you can try a variety of things on their expansive menu.

Asada is juicy and flavorful, but could use more color, I'm more a fan of the flap ranchera cut. I liked the beef cheeks because they are tender, but was surprised some items cost more than others. Since when did tripas cost more than chorizo? Adobada was only ok, no pineapple. Chorizo was good, they don't always have pollo, but they do have Cecina which is not that common, even around here, I would get his in a burrito due to how moist it is. Worth a shot just for non availability most places. Tacos are normal sized for street meats, the rabanos and lime are standard accoutrements. Torta's are ok, the bread isn't nearly as dialed in. Quesadillas are nice sized and not too massive, though I wish the cheese mix matched the proteins instead of some standard blend. Chicharones burrito stays crispy surprisingly. The mole is very good, not as many varieties as I'd like, but for a food truck this is amazing. I love coming here and mixing and matching mole's with corn and meats and items. If you're feeling crazy the last time I was here I got elotes in a cup, I used chicharones as a spoon, horchata and a huitlacoche burrito. The handmade tortilla's and smooth, buttery and have that proper char you remember from your grandmothers house.

The item you really need to try is the Huitlacoche or Corn Smut. It's a fungus that grows on the ears of corn. Now doesn't the name make more sense? It's earthy, rich, imagine Mexican Truffles. It's used like mushrooms and still unexplored by most.

It's the King of more than just Corn and something you...

Definitely a must try came down all the way from Canada and would return again. I had the lengua and Asada taco and both were spectacular very flavourful and the meat melts away in your mouth. To compliment the taco I also got a Elote Asada and I have to say it was the best I’ve ever had, not to mention great prices for what you get no cheaping out...

Handmade thick corn tortilla is the base of this amazing asada experience. Try it soon.

Edit one year later. Still amazing handmade tortillas and a personal favorite of asada tacos but if you like a unique experience try their "huitlacoche quesadilla" with corn...
