Nice find in the city of Santa Ana. Wanted a brunch spot after leaving Newport and landed here. The dishes were unique which caught our eye. Tluyuda which is like a really large, lighter version of a tostada with 3 types of meat. Cesina steak, pork and chorizo. Really good and really unique. Too large for one person, so beware. I tried the goat barbacoa which was tasty, but didn’t have a lot of meat. Thankfully the consommé was delish and my GF wasn’t going to finish her tluyuda, so we had plenty of food. Also tried the quesadilla dorados which were tasty as well.
Only issue was we were starving and hoped the appetizer would come out first, but it didn’t. All the food came out at the same time, which took a while. Thank goodness for the free chips with mole and salsa or we wouldn’t have made it. Speaking of mole, it was fabulous on the chips. Maybe should have orders the pollo en mole. Next time. The horchatas were good too. Different than I am used to. Not as sweet and as you can see had an interesting topping. Hibiscus maybe? Anyway, definitely worth a try and will be back to...
Read moreMagnificent food, prepare the original way, like if you were in Oaxaca, itself. And something surprising is that they gave you the opportunity unique here in LA to try the famous and refreshing TEJATE a natural drink made with corn base and real cocoa with other small ingredients, that gives this particular native drink, it's fantastic flavor and nutritive content. Also a place in which you can find CHAPULINES well prepared and ready to eat as delicious snacks, another customer was eating them, and told me that they were fresh, crunchy as they should be with a slight spice that makes them ideal to watch any sport. Their menu is extremely complete with all the delicacies of that region in Mexico, no wander is consider one of the most varied and complete foods all the entire country. Definitely recommended but just one slight thing, be prepare to pay, because like other types of mexican food, this one will be a little bit costlier considering that almost all the ingredients are directly imported from that southern state, so BRING your credit/debit...
Read moreDefinitely a little piece from home. I tried their " Flor de Oaxaca" Plato , that came prepared with black beans, white rice, a grilled jalapeño, a grilled onion, a slice of Acecina meat , a slice of a red chicken taste meat, and 2 enchiladas filled with chicken topped with brown mole. Very filling and flavors. For drinks, I ordered a Cafe De la olla and Horchata prepared. Which was topped with pieces of walnut and melon, a different twist of traditional Horachata . 10 out 10 recommended. It's family owned so the food is made with love and hand down recipe flavors. It's a small place with about (5) 4 seat tables, (2) 6 seat table , (1) 2 seat table, and ( 2) 4 seat patio tables. This place is a first come first serve basis, but definitely a great...
