I don't remember how many times I've been to this Popeyes. It used to be a work favorite to drive here and bring boxes of it back to Irvine for a mid-day picnic since my ex-boss loved it. :)
I've never had any bad experiences here, and the fried chicken is consistently good and CRISPY. They get a lot of customers so the chicken turnaround time is fast and fresh. Mmmm fried chicken skin!
Their best deal is definitely on Tuesdays for the leg and thigh, even though they raised it from 99c to $1.29. Still a damn good deal.
Their biscuits are also a great accompaniment too. Ask for butter AND honey!
For sides, I've only tried the coleslaw (just ok), cajun fries (yum!), corn (ehh), and mashed potatoes (not bad).
And since you're there already, might as well get the Sweet Tea! They sell it by the gallon too if you want to bring extra home with you.
They do not have a drivethrough, but I've never had to wait too long. It's also across from a Starbucks if you want to get extra fatty and get a green tea frappuccino like I've done before...
Read moreAt this Popeyes Kitchen, the have a large menu displayed on the wall at the order counter. It only shows part of what their entire menu is. It shows the more expensive family combo types of chicken orders, with 8 pieces of chicken or more. If you want a smaller order like a 3 piece meal or a "platter", you need to look on a clear plastic board placed down below eye level in front of the counter with several sheets of plane white paper with the rest of the smaller menu items typed out in small black print. If you don't go there on a regular basis, and don't know about that, it's very easy to overlook. I wound up spending close to $40, on the smallest order that I could see, for my family of 2 people, because I didn't know I was supposed to look for the 2nd part of the nenu down below. When I mentioned it to the counter person, she didn't offer any other option or tried to smexplain ehy it's like that. I felt ripped off and a low regards for any...
Read moreI happened to read an online review of what, in the reviewer's opinion, was the top fish sandwiches available from fast food outlets. In his opinion, the hands down winner was Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen's Flounder based offering. I went online to get an idea of Popeyes price. The Popeyes website listed the fish sandwich but gave no price, but did have a picture of the sandwich. Other sites said it was good an priced at $4.49.
So I drove to the Popeyes closest to me, went inside and tried to order the fish sandwich. I was told it was no longer available. When I protested that not 20 minutes ago I was on the Popeyes website and it was on the menu online. The worker just said "Well we don't have it any more."
Being hungry, I went ahead and bought an order of regular fried chicken which was good with a nice crunchy crust. I do not know if the fish is discontinued or not. BUT, if you want one, it would be smart to call and check it is really...
