Read moreJust average and very salty. Had a gyro plate and mezze plate. They initially forgot our salads even though they weren’t busy. Then we asked for two dressings (they tried to only give us one? Super stingy..) because there were two salads and the worker claims one is already premixed with dressing. We had places to be so we didn’t push it even though that’s odd plus we trusted him one was already premixed with dressing. Yeah, ok.. so he lied about that and what do you know neither salad had dressing and we had to share one small container of dressing. Dry salad was not appetizing. That cheapness and lying definitely left a bad impression. Also I like real, chunked feta but they use cheaper crumbles here and prefer pitted olives (they say they use olives with pits on the menu but the olives were actually the lower quality ones without a pit). If you go on Yelp there’s another review about someone who double checked their order with the employees here and these people STILL got it wrong. Ugh.
On the mezze plate to go, I didn’t like how everything was thrown together in a to go box without compartments to separate the food. I eat mezze platters around the county and the sauces are always outside the container or better yet in a divided container to avoid this. The dolmas and falafel were touching the two containers of sauces AND the foil of the pita. Where were these sauces and foil stored? Did they touch any dirty surfaces? Did the person or people who handled them always wear clean gloves? I don’t have to tell you how unsanitary that is.
I think I tasted a hint of cream cheese in the tzatziki sauce (I could be wrong could just be the type of yogurt) which was the only unique thing about the food here. I also thought the dolmas were above average. As for the falafel, very disappointing and like two cold small pucks. I had a bad first impression with the workers here since I don’t like being lied to to my face (and apparently I’m not the only one) so I’m definitely not supporting...
Read moreBeing from Chicago, where Gyros are a staple street food, I'm always on the lookout for them and make it a point to try them at any place that offers them. It's very hard to find a good Gyro around here UNTIL NOW! Oh my goodness within the first bite I was transported to pure taste heaven. The gyro itself is large and trust me that's how you want it. The pita tastes so fresh with a nice soft texture but still able to hold in all the goodness of the filling. There's plenty of gyro meat which has a good balance of seasonings. The toppings which add a flavorful but not overpowering contrast to the seasoning of the meat take it to another level. I also had the feta fries....best I've had ever, even better than the ones served at Greek festivals in OC. They are so flavorful and crispy but not hard or crunchy. They give you ketchup and I love ketchup but it's really not necessary. Squeeze some fresh lemon on them and it's like a party in your mouth. The baklava tastes very fresh and homemade. And I've had my share of baklava tastings as well. The phylo is flakey and crisp, the nuts ground to a perfect texture and the honey/syrup is light yet flavorful. Even my niece who does not like any kind of nuts, said it was so yummy and her eyes just lit up as she chewed it. I've been here twice in 2 weeks and plan on going again soon with guests. You may have to wait a bit for your food but realize that this isn't fast food it's GOOD food. The quality is worth the wait. I also felt that the cost was reasonable,...
