Bohumil Ben “Bomo” Koral 1909 – 1981 His parents emigrated to the United States when Bomo was 1 year old. The Koral homestead was in Gloryetta on Flora Street now called Delhi. The Koral family had the first water well in the area. A graduate of Santa Ana High School. He was a well known softball player and coach of the Santa Ana Stars. Bomo was a Master Sergeant in the Army and he fought in the Battle of the Bulge receiving 2 Purple Hearts from the Ardennes counteroffensive. He was buzzed by a German buzz bomb that exploded less than 100 yards from his position. He was the team captain for the West Coast Air Force training center softball team. He was hired by the City of Santa Ana Parks and Recreation. He became the city Parks Superintendent and was responsible for many of the parks and the Stadium. He was a big supporter of Pop Warner and recreation for children. He resided in Santa Ana with his wife Mabel and son Rodney. The City of Santa Ana dedicated Bomo Koral Park and Bomo Koral Circle in honor of his memory and contributions to the citizens of Santa Ana and future generations. Rest in Peace Uncle Bomo.
