Maybe I chose the wrong sandwich, but I don't love this place as much as other reviewers. I was looking forward to it while visiting the area for the first time in years, but the reviews set expectations too high. Service was nice enough, but the chicken sandwich I ordered had the goo you typically see in a can of dog or cat food. I may not be much of a meat eater, but getting that all down took some resolve, gratefulness that I had something to eat at all, and not wanting to disrespect the college mate who paid for the meal. Read moreI've had banh mi in Saigon, banh mi in Hue, banh mi in Garden Grove, and banh mi in Houston. Annie's Sandwiches makes the best banh mi on the planet.
No I'm not exaggerating. The crust is light and flaky yet somehow still fluffy. If you're an OG, ask for the grilled lemongrass pork (thit nuong). The thit nuong is moist and slow-cooked with intense flavor, and the pickled veggies are sweet and tart enough to balance the umami from the meat.
Make your special person happy. Get sammies from Annie's. Don't miss out on this DEEP...
