Since we heard about a new restaurant Shawarmaji from others we were very eager to try it out...
There are street parking beside the restaurant or on the other street lanes, due to the close proximity to Santa Clara University parking can be little difficult but we saw many street side parking...
Upon entering we were greeted very warmly by the host at the counter it was such a pleasure talking to her ... they have a very limited menu but everything is excellent we can vouch for that...
We ordered for Togo at the counter-
chicken arabi style - sarookh cut into bite-sized pieces served with a side of our famous toum house-made pickles and a choice of fries or one of our salad
chicken sarookh (wrap) whole- thinly sliced chicken shawarma served in a 12'' arabic wrap with our famous toum and cucumber pickles
Seasoned Fries
falafel (vegan) 6 pieces - deep fried ground garbanzo balls
tahini salad - diced tomatoes, cucumber, and parsley in tahini sauce
We enjoyed ourselves to the beautiful music while waiting for our order.... I think next time I will dine in due to the catchy music it was amazing didn't understood a word but I didn't care , I enjoyed it very much....
Now to the tasting part it was amazing!!!!!
From the shawarma( very juicy & flavorful) ....to the pickles which went perfectly with the dish cuts down the fat .... to the fries .....to the falafel ( very different taste) it was delicious..... to the tahini salad .... Amazing !!!! And that sauce .... Toum ( vegan garlic sauce) ... OMG ..... I have never tasted anything like that before.... I am buying it next time I visit the restaurant.... Read moreShawarmaji in San Jose is an absolute gem that transported me back to the bustling streets of the UAE with every bite. If you're craving authentic Middle Eastern flavors, this is the place to be! I have tried every shawarma place in the Bay Area and this is the most authentic one.
From the moment I walked in, the aromas wafting through the air took me on a nostalgic journey. I ordered their chicken Arabi Shawarma, and let me tell you, it was like a slice of Dubai right here in California. The perfectly seasoned and tender meat, wrapped in a warm, fluffy pita, was a symphony of flavors that made my taste buds dance with joy.
But what truly stole the show for me were the red pickled turnips. These little crimson beauties were an absolute revelation! Tangy, slightly sweet, and with just the right amount of crunch, they complemented the Shawarma perfectly. I couldn't resist getting a few extra to take home; they are an absolute must-have.
The ambiance at Shawarmaji was cozy and inviting, with a touch of Middle Eastern decor that added to the overall experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, making me feel right at home. They also have the classic yogurt drinks, Vimto and other shawarma essentials like toum, falafel, the pickled vegetables to take home separately.
Whether you're a Shawarma aficionado or new to Middle Eastern cuisine, Shawarmaji in San Jose is a must-visit. It's a true taste of the Middle East right in the heart of California. I can't wait to return and savor those delicious...
