The room was clean, the location was good, small parking lot but doable with larger vehicles, The only problem I had was with the ladies in the front, it took over 30 mins for them to check me in after I had pre paid for the room. They were showing me a cancellation while I was showing them a receipt and a confirmation email, plus my online banking statement saying the room was already paid for. I finally get checked in my room key doesn't work, I had to call the front desk. The lady wanted me to come get the key from the office, I already had all my bags upstairs. I told her to just bring me the key unless she planned on helping me carry all my stuff back I was going to leave a considerable amount of bags outside a hotel room door. Later on that night our smoke alarm went off we were told to take the battery out of the alarm. The manager( the man) was very nice he allowed us to get a late check out at 1pm vs 11am. So we are Greatful for that, my boyfriend and I were here visiting to see Rigoletto at the San...
Read moreThere are good and bad things about this place. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were fluffy and soft. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The shower was great. Water pressure was nice and strong, the hot and cold settings worked great. The same cannot be said about the air conditioner. It came out so low that it took a full 7 hours to begin to cool the room down. No exaggeration. The "free breakfast" was cold, dry cereal in a big tub and guests had to stick their hands in it to get the cereal. To me, that kind of sucked. They also had some pastries that looked like they might have been sat on. They advertised a pool but I never did find it. The final straw for me was when the county health inspectors showed up and put on masks before they would enter a certain room on the main floor. They had clipboards and were taking a lot of notes. This is never a good sign. I am only hoping that no bed bugs and no meth cooking crack heads were involved. Thanks...
Read moreThe Valley Inn is a family-owned venture and therefore a bit funky. The road noise is medium loud through evening rush hour and then drops off quickly. The rooms are very comfortable - the mattress, linens, everything - are nice - especially at the very reasonable room cost.||||Continue past the Inn down The Alameda and you'll find wonderful small restaurants, coffee shops and galleries. Want to find some spectacular restored examples of 1920 bungalows? Turn right at Peets Coffee (Hanchett) or Five Guys (Martin) and step into another world.||||Want to stop and smell the roses? San Jose Municipal Rose Garden is the cornerstone of the neighborhood and was deemed “America’s Best Rose Garden.” The 5½ acre garden features more than 3,500 rose shrubs with nearly 200 varieties represented year-long.||||If all the chain hotels in San Jose/Santa Clara are booked (or even if they aren't), take a chance at the Valley...
