Maggie's Smokehouse & Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Santa Clara

Great America has managed to take the Great Maggie Brown's Fried Chicken and make it horrible... What used to be a wonderful chicken dinner where fried chicken mashed potato gravy biscuits and corn has turned in to this dried piece of meat they called chicken. Instead of mashed potatoes you get French fries, fruit salad, some horrible macaroni salad just not very appealing. One of the sides is a green salad but they have no salad dressing for the salad. And now instead of a wonderful buttermilk biscuit you get this corn bread muffin that is as hard as a rock on top and it's almost like it had sugar poured on it very sweet. The place was very dirty and the BBQ sauce the offered for the beef was all dried up in a hot pot on the counter. On top of it all the poor guys behind the one's trying to serve the food didn't know what chicken pieces were which white meat from dark. I guess the kicker was when people behind the counters kept apologizing saying don't ever come on a weekend because this is how it is the food is on weekend. They said on the weekdays they say it's at least half decent food but as the food for the weekends they say they would never eat it. Great America I deserve a refund. I guess on top of this all I did the all day dining pass and everything I have gone today has been below standards. Do not waste your money on all day dining pass come part of the day then go to go In and Out its just down the street then come back or bring a picnic lunch and eat in the parking lot don't spend your money on food here at Great America as it's just not worth it... Six flags has Great America beat hands down as far as quality of food as well as prices. 17.99 for a meal is so...

This fried chicken was so good!! All white meat, boneless and skinless. The breading is SO well seasoned and there’s lots of it to crunch on! I ordered the tenders, which were real pieces of chicken and not in uniformed, machine-cut shapes. I got a biscuit with my dish which was totally legit based on the southern cooking I’ve had in past. Steaming hot and moist. Not buttery so possibly made with lard. I had veggies for a side to try to ease my guilt for all the other calories. Those were definitely fresh, seasoned, and varied. Our table wasn’t clean but I didn’t care after walking around for 8 hours...

The food turns over good so its fresh and tasty. The salad could be a little bigger, it doesn't resemble the menu very well at all. I definitely recommend against showing up near closing time as they're not preparing fresh entree items after about one half hour before they close. Positive thing is they're being conscientious about not wasting food in the evening negative is if you miss the magic cut off you may not going to get what you want. Maybe they can figure out a way to advertise that they close at a certain time but the last entree service is at a...
