CrabMentality — Restaurant in Santa Clarita

I’ve been coming here whenever I’m in Santa Clarita since 2019, and it’s always been a favorite. The food used to be incredible—flavorful, fresh, and consistently satisfying. (Five Stars), However, my last two visits have felt noticeably different.

During a recent visit, I spoke with a friendly staff member who mentioned the recipes had changed under new management. Despite some hesitation, I decided to give the Captain’s Catch another try. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment—what I received was a rubbery lobster tail with no depth of flavor. It tasted more like pre-boiled seafood with some seasoning on top, which was a stark contrast to the dish I used to enjoy.

On a positive note, the staff remain very polite and welcoming, which I genuinely appreciate.

Will I return? Yes—one more time. I’m hopeful that the management will listen to feedback from longtime customers and bring back the quality and flavor that originally made this...

Initially, we sat in an area that was really cold, so we moved. The other spot we moved to was very cold as well. I guess one can't ask too much from a restaurant inside a gracery store. Anyhow, the food arrived. The presentation was good and the food was looking nice. We started eating. The food was very greasy and too salty. The crab was ok though. The chicken tenders were bland. The crab rice was ok, but way to greasy. Although the food was edible, I probably won't be coming here in the winter time, or until the place gets some sort of heater. So I been coming here for about 4 years. The very last time I went in 2024 it was nasty! Food did not have any flavor. I noticed new workers that I had never seen before. It was always Asian people working back there, but this last time it was different people. The food had no flavor and I demanded a refund. They said they could pay me back 50% of what I paid or give me credit for next time. It’s a ways from my house so I couldn’t drive back over there and am now afraid if it’s even going to be worth getting another order from them. This place used to be so good.
