I placed an online order for a single coffee at Makenna’s in Valencia around 9:50 AM. At the same time, I placed a large, complex breakfast order at Marston’s, which is in the same parking lot. Despite both businesses being busy (due to the usual Sunday morning church crowd), Marston’s managed to prepare an entire breakfast for multiple people faster than Makenna’s could make a single drink.
When I arrived at Makenna’s, my drink was already supposed to be ready, but I waited a little before asking a barista about it. She told me there were two orders ahead of mine. So I waited 15 more minutes, watching people order after me and receive their drinks before me, yet my order was still not made. When I checked again, I got the same response—still two orders ahead of mine. No progress. No urgency. Just excuses about online orders being backed up.
Meanwhile, my entire breakfast order was sitting in my car getting cold while I stood there waiting for a coffee that never came. If online orders are backed up, why not help fulfill your online orders to catch them up? Isn’t the whole point of online ordering to save time?
After waiting far too long, I had no choice but to leave without my drink. This isn’t the first time I’ve had terrible service at this location, but it will be the last. There are plenty of other coffee shops that actually value their...
Read moreMakenna Koffee has very fun drinks, an amazing array of flavors and types of drinks, friendly baristas, cute interior & atmosphere. I was so excited when this place opened up, because there’s not too many good/fun coffee shops in this part of Valencia. Pros are their honey lavender latte, anything with macadamia nut, and SUPER cute pastries/cookies!
However, as a former Starbucks barista of 4 years, I truly hope these baristas can undergo some kind of efficiency/sequencing training. I’ve worked in way way busier atmospheres and rushes with a similar volume of drink variety, and they take anywhere from 15 minutes on a good day to 40 minutes on a busy day to get one drink out. Today I waited over 30 minutes for one drink. As good as the coffee is, they desperately need planted barista stations where people aren’t running around and crossing over each other. Also, they had espresso shots pulled and just waiting at their machines which is not standard — shots need to be fresh and new every time. also, the baristas use an iPad to pull up recipes for drinks. I understand that there’s a ton of drinks to memorize but unfortunately that’s contributing to so much added time. Really hope that Makenna can work out it’s opening...
Read morei went to pick up my order 12/28 at around 12pm. i had never been here before and i waited in line. there was no signage that instructed mobile orders to a different place. the cashier greeted the person in front of me that looked exactly like her and i thought my exchange was going to be the same. when it was my turn, i politely told this cashier (yt lady short with black glasses) that i was here for a mobile orders and she said “well ummm its over there this line is for in person orders” and she did a half point to a very inconspicuous corner of the room. i asked her if the drinks were ready and she said “dont know next” so i just sat at a table and waited. by this time it was 15 min past my pick up, i received a text saying my order was ready at 12pm. 12;20, my husband who is yt went up to the same person and said, “hello, my order says its ready and its not out yet i wanted to know how long it would be?” there was no line at this point. she says “i told your wife that i dont know so just sit there and wait” we ended up getting our coffee at 12:35. i wouldnt have mind the wait if the product came out at the same time. however, the lack of communication, rudeness and negligence of the staff was what gave my...
