I have given this restaurant several passes, but this time I’m done. The service is horrible and for a place that was completely empty, that really surprises me. The Margarita tasted like a slushy from McDonald’s… The bartender who I have seen several times, couldn’t be bothered to see if you wanted another drink. He had his back turned to us the entire time didn’t even say hello… And he’s done this more than once. He was playing with random stuff on the wall like organizing the shelf rather than asking us if we need another drink. It’s best to order on the rocks, but even that is going be nothing but sweet-and-sour. The food is not great. It takes forever to get to you and is cold by the time you get it . Their prices are high and I swear they change how much they’re going to charge you on the fly. I need to go back and look at my bill to see how much of a service charge is on there. The waiter literally came by the table next to me three times because I think they may have been regulars and the only time they came back to my table was when I asked them for my bill. I actually think they want to close down. I don’t think they’re doing anything to stay open. Oh, the other odd thing every time I’ve gone in here the employees have been sitting in the front lobby in the waiting area for guests.. They are all just hanging out or on break. It’s the strangest place and the vibe is all bad. In the bar is in the very back I feel that this place would do better if the bar was in the front it’s just a...
Read moreOkay, let me start with the fact that I am half Mexican and half Guatemalan. Therefore, I have high standards for latin foods, and this place is too Americanized for my tastebuds. So, I tried to find something traditional. That was a fail and therefore I will never return to this restaurant.
Some of the dishes are good, but I picked the carnitas plate, and that was disappointing. I got tiny refried pieces of pork that tasted like leftovers from Friday. I also asked for corn tortillas and got flour.
The shrimp enchiladas were good, but we ordered the crab enchiladas and were given shrimp.
The restaurant itself is very old school looking and has a cafeteria feel to it. Which, I would not have cared one bit if the service and food were good. I eat at some major run-down hole in the wall restaurants in LA and Compton that have amazing Mexican food.
I don't even have pictures of the dinner to post because I was so...
Read moreWe just walked out of Maria Bonita. The reason is that there was no one at the hostess desk and we were waiting there for quite a while and then someone came out and seated the gentleman in front of us. And then we waited more.
Finally, a hostess came out. We asked her if they were too busy to handle two more people because we'd been waiting a long time for them to seat us. When we told her how long we had been waiting, she rudely said, that is not long. She could have simply been polite and said, I'm sorry about the wait and you will not have to wait a long time for dinner. That would have been fine. Someone needs better people skills.
After being treated rudely like that before we even sat down we were done. And we've been going there for years. But not when they're willing to treat their customers rudely. That is just not okay. So enter this restaurant at...
