Well, the kids are drinking so I'm not loving that, the 21 age is for a brain reason, and ought to be 28. The brain doesn't fully mature, well ..ever..yet the alcohol is really wrong for anyone under 28. So it saddens me when a great concept of pizza and tap and salads, able to gaze at beloved Holy surfing, is warping by permissive management. Bee.
Still / the pizza's are where we can see them cook, and the interplayfulness of those who work there are not
They do fair. The resentment factor is visible, that there's favoritism and chauvinism. Its not just buzzing underage, but there's a current that there may be in appropriateness , you know plastered manager doing other things wrong.
I think he's a liability.
That aside, the food has been better, you just hope their unhappiness isn't gonna keep affecting the timing.
I wish santa cruz would go sober for every month, 4 different day's!
The environment is the usual, the bathrooms have too many germs because they don't want to keep people safe, and the question is, why do restaurants even mix j a nitorial ought to be a separate position hired, not AT ALL anyone near food!!!
So many aspects of America do not have basic sensibility.
I have always liked pizza my heart, but familiar with way better locations.
Edit rejoinder: after reading the lackluster scripted paragraph supposedly by the owner, but I do not believe it was...
Months later.... same . Zero improvement. Same drunk manager. Same underage drinking employees. Bad attitudes. Disgusting not stocked not clean bathrooms. And private conversations loudly griping gossiping from behind kitchen wall. Its just a severe issue with the Pacific Street locale. So so SO not surfers working this branch. Really really gypping all tourist locals and ocean...
Read morePizza my heart it’s kind of like a Santa Cruz icon. Their pizzas are typically very tasty but can be a little bit on the greasy side especially the pepperoni or pesto. Their pizza style is thin with semi l-hefty crust that is oddly soft when it’s fresh and their slices are very large, reminiscent of the Del-Cor pizza slices I used to get as a kid on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. Pizza My Heart used to stay open until 2 AM on the weekends but post-Covid, as is the case with almost all the other restaurants at least in Santa Cruz now closes earlier, at midnight 7 days a week. Even though their prices have gone up over the last couple years, they’re pretty typical and like I said before their slices are huge. You can also order whole pies obviously and they offered delivery. They have some tasty salad options as well that are premade in plastic sealed containers and you have a choice of six or seven different types of dressings as well. As far as the atmosphere goes, it’s typically quite busy at the downtown location, but it also is filled with tons of surf memorabilia on the walls and what not for fans of that type of stuff. They also offer a slice and T-shirt deal that used to be $5. I think it’s $7 now. They have some semi Dash gourmet specialty pizzas you can choose from as well with whole cloves of roasted garlic and portobello mushrooms, and all kinds of fancy toppings like that if you’re into that type of thing. They also have the really cool soda machines that let you choose from all these different flavors, the ones that have the touchscreen. So, I recommend stopping by this place if you happen to be in Santa Cruz, especially late night and hungry. It will definitely satisfy...
Read moreThis is really the perfect joint to grab a quick casual slice of great pizza. They're even open really late at night for all of those munchies cravings.
Even at 9pm when we went, they still had a variety of different pizza topping flavors. The pizza gets heated up in a fairly short amount of time, and you get the food quick. The pizza itself is delicious. There's a defined crust on the bottom with a distinct part of the crust being thin and crispy. Really well balanced with a light crispy crust and a small amount of fluffy bread-Inness in the center. The specialty slices are all perfect combinations of toppings. Choices such as the Big Sur and Chicken bacon ranch pizzas are all the most perfect flavors one could want on a pizza when they get cravings late at night. Whole roasted garlic, sausage, green onions, and pepperoni is probably the most divine combination of toppings that could possibly go on a pizza. The same goes for their chicken bacon, white sauce pizza. The quality of the toppings are high too; it's not some mystery meat or bland tasting ingredients like a lot of other cheap pizza places use.
The pizza slices are a good price--especially given the size that they are. These slices are huge and even one would probably fill up most people. They serve a range of tap beer to go along with the pizza.
As for the atmosphere, it's a chill vibe with lots of historical paraphernalia lining the walls. It makes the atmosphere for eating pizza...
