This is just my opinion of what my visit was like. Santa Cruz downtown is always a great place to visit. It has a lot of things to see from stores to actual people selling stuff from their van. It is an experience, you get to see a lot of people wearing different styles of clothes. The streets are clean for the most part. There is plenty of parking and it seems it cost $20 per day, if you want to stay and try different restaurants or stores. I love taking pictures and there are a lot of things to take pictures of. Read moreLots has changed here since the 1989 Loma prieata earthquake. The old buildings were destroyed in particular the the hihn building, and the cooper building, but a new downtown Santa Cruz has emerged, and it is nice to see that the locals still ship the venerable shops here.
Still eclytic and Bohemian in many ways. I wasn't able to visit the old catalyst bar and music venue. In the day it held many music greats.
