Very odd and annoying experience… I wanted to try on a pair of pants and cashier asked to hold my purse behind counter (theft prevention I assumed which I respect and complied). After trying on said pants, they didn’t fit so returned to cashier and we were chatting as I continued browsing before needing to leave and make the hour trip back home. After getting home, I realized I never got my purse back! They held onto it, and said it was there when I called but I felt very odd about the whole situation because I was in there for a good amount of time after trying on the pants that they could have given me my purse back, but did not and did not try to get a hold of me after leaving the store. I acknowledge I also left without remembering, I’m so used to having it on me that I didn’t think but I do take responsibility for that. I’ve worked in retail for over 10 years and am very diligent about helping customers who have forgotten items at stores because it happens all the time. I had an awful experience my first time visiting this store. One of the men working there falsely accused me of trying something on and not putting it back when he was in fact completely wrong about the item I tried on. I even offered to show my bag and he refused to look and kept repeating that he “knew I tried on another item.” I hope he watched the camera footage back and felt like a complete moron. I have never been more falsely accused of something in my 30 years and was completely taken aback by these aggressive comments. This is my first weekend living in Santa Cruz. I came here to find some peace after dealing with cancer for the last year.
