I have been going to Berbere now for over a year. I've been vegan now for over seven years. There are so many great vegan restaurants in LA, so when I say this I am not trying to take anything away from them, but in my opinion Berbere is the best in the city. The food is just incredible. There is not a bad order on the menu. It's one of those places where you order something, it's so amazing you want to order it every time. But then the waiter or one of their amazing employees suggests something else so you try it and BOOM -- you are addicted to a new dish. That being said the grilled cheese with carmalized onions and the potato lentil tacos are just unreal. Vegan or not vegan, go here. The food is amazing. The wait staff is just incredibly kind and great at their jobs. And the atmosphere somehow always feels like Christmas but you know, without the Christmas. It's hard to explain so just go and experience it...
Read moreOne of the best Ethiopian places I have been to! The owner is a very creative lady and an inventor of amazing food. Her take on Ethiopian - American fusion is just unbelievable and takes an already delicious cuisine to another level. Every single item we ordered here was amazingly delicious. All of us were mindblown multiple times when she brought out the dishes!
The veggie burger was the best vegetarian burger the 4 of us in our party have ever eaten! The owner invented the patty and the burger, and mentioned how she does not use fake meat patties because she does not like the taste of them. We were excited when we were ordering it hearing this, and were again mindblown after the first bite. Same can be said about the green smoothie and the various other items we ordered there.
Overall a must visit restaurant if you are in the Santa Monica area and are up for an experience. You will not be...
Read moreSo happy to have found an exceptional Ethiopian place in Santa Monica. Food, service, atmosphere are all amazing! I got The Wish Meal which is Eat the Rainbow plus 3 additional items and it is the perfect amount for 2 people to share. The presentation is so colorful and beautiful, and all the different portions of the dish are so tasty. I cannot believe how much flavor is packed into every bite. I especially enjoyed the tofu tibs; my least favorite was the gray-green lentils, the Azifa, I think. Their injera is good and delivers on the soft, fluffy, sourdough, crepe texture that I love. Everyone that works there is so nice and service is always top notch. They are very dog friendly which is a huge plus in my book. I've taken many friends here who have never tried Ethiopian food before, and they have all been blown away and...
