By far, the worst yoga experience I have ever had. I went to an all levels class last week taught by Anaswara. I am fat, have chronic pain and spinal issues, and my friends insisted that the teachers offered different options for different levels. When I arrived I knew I made a mistake. The room was hot. Anaswara was no where to be seen. I set myself up with all of my props available to me, and then all the sudden the instructor appeared and started barking at the class. I didnāt have the opportunity to let her know my needs. The movement was ridiculously fast, no alternatives offered, it was obvious I was struggling, and about 15 minutes in I had a new sharp pain in my back. I stopped, listened to my body myself, but I was literally crying while trying to stretch out what was hurting, using my PT exercises. At no point did Anaswara check in on me. At no point did she ever offer alternatives to anyone.
After the class I checked in with her and said āoh I must have read it wrong I thought it was all levelsā and she said āno it wasā ā¦.ok obviously it wasnāt. Then I said āoh really? Because usually all levels means thereās optional offeringsā and she condescendingly said āwell it is called power yoga. And at least youāre moving.ā
I have been doing yoga for years, online and with fat instructors. I only came to spend time with my friends. The fatphobic audacity.
It has been a week and I have had to have multiple PT, massage, Accu, and chiro appointments and I am still in pain. Do not attend Power Yoga if you have any special requirements. I recommend Fringish, Tiffany Crowe, Room to Be Yoga, and Body Positive Fitness if you need an instructor that is capable of working with a body...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHad a good experience here at the Sunday morning 10am level 2/3 class. The pace and challenge was perfect for an experienced yogi. The teacher was subbing but the class energy was positive and fun. Definitely one of the best Power Yoga classes I've experienced. Bonus points for no music during class (personally I enjoy this for Hatha and Power).
As a teacher, I wouldn't recommend the level 2/3 to anyone not proficient in sun salutations. I unfortunately saw a lot of poor alignment in backbends in this class and had to work hard to turn my teaching brain off. But I don't blame the teacher when there are so many students, some of which should probably be taking level 1/2.
I left my donation in the box before class and asked a student who was leaving from the previous class about mat rental since I was traveling and didn't have mine. He said someone might ask me for $2 and showed me where they were hanging. There were a lot of mats available of various styles and thicknesses. I had given all my cash for donation and no one approached me about paying this fee separately. Contrary to some reviews, I didn't experience or observe any sort of pressure for donations.
The only reason I left 4 stars is because I believe if mats are offered, mat cleaning policies and supplies should be made clear. I didn't see anything to do this myself or any communication that staff would do this. I used my own towel over it so I wasn't too worried. I just have high standards for yoga studio cleanliness and hope the management/staff here might improve this system to give students peace of mind and for the health of...

This quirky studio has become a favorite of mine. Iāve become a regular. Itās a bit more rustic, and thatās what I love about it. The instructors are top notch. If you want more, thatās on you I think.
Adji -
I have been attending Adjiās classes for the past few months, and I wanted to make sure that I left a review to recommend him.
Adji has a certain level of natural (impressive) athletic ability, but he never uses it to separate himself from his students. Heās adept at humor. Unlike some other yoga teachers in LA, ego is not an issue here, which is greatly appreciated. He mostly wants to share with you what heās learned.
His classes can be reasonably challenging, but he focuses on maintaining a happy medium, which unlocks the inherent joy of practicing yoga - itās about balance. He is also concerned with your experience and will mentor you based on your own discretion.
Iāve personally noticed others who clearly have a history of yoga gain something new from his class. Which I believe can be my best recommendation - whether youāre a beginner or have practiced for decades - Adjiās class offers a unique approach that will enhance your practice.
Iāve greatly enjoyed his classes, often leave refreshed, and hope that you can experience the same.
His humming the occasional Brazilian tune during Shavasana is an added perk. (When is that first album being released, Adji?)
Adji's classes are M, W, F at 12:30pm. ...
