They are open for inside dining! The menus are on a double sided laminated sheet in a very small font! They provide magnifiers, if needed! Hahaha!
The food! I had the salmon steak which comes with 2 sides. I chose the baked potato and coleslaw. It was very tasty! My husband ordered the grilled ham and cheese sandwich with coleslaw and fries. He said it was perfect and hit the spot!
The staff are VERY FRIENDLY and attentive! It is so nice to come back to Fromin's to sit inside! New upolstered fabric in the booths and new modern chandeliers!
I came here today for lunch: 05/ 12/ 2022
I love Fromin's! I am so glad they survived the last two years of Covid. They are open for Dine In! The staff here are always so friendly and nice and they work really well as a team.
I love seeing Juan the server here, He is fairly new to Fromin's but I have known him for over 32 years when he was working as a server just down the street at the other Jewish Deli restaurant ( now closed). The staff all seem very loyal and seem happy to be working here. Bravo!
Today we came here for lunch and I ordered a soup and half a sandwich. The soup of the day was broccoli, which was yummy, but a but I added salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon for my own taste. My half sandwich was chicken salad with toasted sourdough. It was stacked high! This comes with coleslaw and their coleslaw is really tasty. I also loved the slice of pickle too!
My husband ordered the ham sandwich with fries and coleslaw. He ate it all! He was hungry!
For simple deli, feel good food, Fromin's has it. Nothing fancy, but it's a place where you are greeted with a smile from the staff and the service is very attentive.
The prices are a bit high for deli food, but I don't mind supporting a local business. Our meal was around $50.00 .
The best deal is the dinner menu. Next time we will come back for dinner! Dinner is around $22.00 but you get a lot for that price, ( main course, 2 side dishes ) and usually I take home half for it's...
Read moreOne of a handful of famous Jewish delis in Los Angeles. Fromin’s is a bit different in that it’s located on the west side in Santa Monica. It’s not nearly as busy as Canter‘s, Langer’s, or Nate and Al’s but it does get quite busy at certain times. They have a large free parking lot attached otherwise it’s not hard to find street parking in this part of town. We stopped in a few days before Christmas and it was quite crowded inside, but we were able to be seated right away, and our server was very polite. As many other reviews have mentioned portion sizes are quite large here although prices are a bit more expensive than they should be. I feel all the delis around LA are at the same price point. It’s more expensive than a diner but less expensive than a trendy dinner restaurant. We usually expect to spend about $75 for two people. Just like most delis they have a giant menu filled with all sorts of options leaning toward Kosher but also have non-Kosher options as well. We have stopped in for dinner before, but this time was our first visit for breakfast.
For my breakfast, I had to try one of their everything bagels, which was as good as expected but for my entrée I chose a new combo. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, but I substituted the ham for a burger patty split in half. It was a great call, and I’m glad the kitchen could accommodate my request. The flavors were really good and honestly, I don’t have a reason to give Fromin’s less than five stars. It is a bit more expensive than I think it should be, but as someone who has lived in Los Angeles for many years, it’s something that I’ve come to expect, just part of living in this town.
Overall one of the better delis and definitely worth visiting given that there are only a handful of these classic delis left. I would recommend to any deli fan and plan to be back...
Read moreHave been ordering delivery from Fromin’s for years bc we like their food. Super disappointed today when we ordered through GrubHub and found out later that they are now using Coco robots and they expect you to walk out to the sidewalk and retrieve your order from the robot. We live in a large apt building and our delivery instructions are to deliver to our door. We tip generously (22%-30% depending on the distance) bc we expect the food to be delivered to us. This has NEVER been an issue until today. At some point after we placed the order I noticed I had a text (I don’t sit around staring at my phone) and it was informing us that Fromin’s now uses “Coco” and that we had to meet it on the sidewalk. Grubhub directed me to call the restaurant, which I did and they were no help and didn’t seem to know what I was talking about. When I contacted GrubHub, I got the run around and at one point was told the robot would sit there on the sidewalk until someone could come and bring it up to our apartment! Eventually they cancelled the order. But I’m sitting here wondering what we are paying the high delivery fees for if its not actually going to be delivered. Also, when I asked about the tip, I was told it goes to the “pilot” of the robot - someone who is sitting in a room somewhere. No thanks! I’m not tipping someone who isn’t actually delivering my food. Unfortunately, if Fromin’s is not going to use actual delivery people, we won’t be ordering...
