Maria Sol — Restaurant in Santa Monica

Today I had the worst experience at this restaurant. We were celebrating a birthday and decided to eat here 2/23/19. We asked to sit outdoors, it was 12 of us. As we got seated they gave us one table that only fit 6 people, they then offered a second table with 4 more chairs. Clearly two people were just standing there, we asked if they can sit in a nearby table and the hostess said yes. As we sat there a waiter Greg came up and was not happy that our guest were sitting in his section of tables. They didn’t offer us drinks and went off to gather towards the back area of the sitting area and were arguing amongst themselves making everything so awkward. They then sent someone to get our drink order and left half of our party without drinks. We also noticed that all other tables were given chips and salsa with the exception of our 3 tables. They made us feel as though because we are Hispanic we were less than any other people eating at the restaurant. I ordered nachos with shrimp and the waitress asked me “are you sure you want shrimp on your nachos that”ll cost you almost $30 dollars as if I could not afford my meal. Overall this was the worst customer service experience ever. The only reason I didn’t get up and leave was because we were there to celebrate my daughters birthday. I will make sure to post this same review anywhere anyone can read it. How dare they treat people like this? Someone needs to contact me to discuss this horrible experience...

So let me start by saying my first night in CA I was hoping this would stand out. It did not but that being said let's get the ball rolling on this review. So we were sat down very quickly and we were greeted with chips and salsa before the waiter got to us. We munched on the chips and looked at the menu. The waiter came to us (Fernando O) and took our drink order and we managed to figure out what we wanted while waiting. So my wife ordered a strawberry daiquiri drink which was good and not too powerful. For dinner we ordered two apps. The quesadilla with chicken and beef taquitos. The quesadilla was good nothing too crazy and not overstuff with onions and peppers like most are. The taquitos were great the beef was nice and soft not to crazy on spices and what not. The quac was really good with the quesadilla. The service however was a different story. The waiter never came back except once after the food was dropped off. At this point I had asked him for a to go box. Which he came back with it and never saw him again for at least 15 mins when the hostess came over and asked what we needed. After that 5 mins later he was back with the check and took my card and ran it. I was a little disappointed with the staff here really. The food was good at best and the staff was poor. They didn't look short handed so can't blame it on that. Overall I expected better tbh but the Santa Monica pier is nice place to check...

Was very disappointing. We went Friday September 10th in the afternoon time. Not too many people in there so we were happy to see they let our large group of 4 adults 2 teens and 4 kids in right away. They led us to two tables that were next to eachother but not connected so my brother asked if we can move them the waitress was very annoyed by this question and told him it would take an hour and half if we all wanted to be seated together. Now I see it can be overwhelming for a large group to come in however it felt very disrespectful to snap at him. We decided to stay and sit. Then since we were celebrating 2 birthdays I went to inform her. She snapped at me and said if you want us to sing you have to pay for a dessert and rolled her eyes. Listen I was so offended considering we were going to be paying alot for this meal and obviously all the kids would want dessert that we were going to buy to simply assume vs. Asking to have a birthday recognize like we wanted but we were wanting free food is ridiculous. We got up and abruptly left when I realized the kids noticed how annoyed she was. This was suppose to be a treat for the kids instead it was a huge headache . We went elsewhere and spent 200 on the meals. Be overwhelmed we understand but not rude. I normally don't leave these kind of reviews but we were so looking forward to this. Would not recommend for large parties...
