We visited Shelby’s last Wednesday, March 1. We arrived at 4:50 for dinner. There was a group of about 8 people sitting at a table towards the inside entrance to the building. It may have been the manager that said they were training new employees. We were told the restaurant doesn’t open until 5pm, but to grab a seat. We generally dine on Wednesday’s as it is local night with 20% off, which helps with the extremely high prices. They have always been open before 5 and should correct their website that states hours are 11-7. We sat outside at a table. The group in training then went inside the restaurant. An employee brought us two waters and said our server would be with us in a few minutes. We waited another 10 minutes and two ladies came to dine as well. They opened the front door and we overheard someone say, oh we’re closed until 5:30 as we’re training new employees. So we were completely ignored and apparently an unimportant customer. This was our 5th or 6th trip to Shelby’s and believe me our last. Very frustrating. We walked across the street to Shunk Gulley and had impeccable, friendly service. We really wanted to help support Shelby’s., but...

In the past, I’ve gotten the 30A Chicken Sandwich and it was delicious. My sister and brother-in-law got the Pimento Cheese Burger and said it was delicious, but they wished it had more pimento cheese. I split the Fresh Grouper Sandwich (blackened) and the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl with my husband. The grouper sandwich was 1000x better than the poke bowl. The poke bowl was gross. The tuna just didn’t taste good. Would not recommend that.
Convenient location, walking distance to the beach. But I would say stick to the sandwiches.
Original: This review is for takeout only. We picked up food to go on Monday, 7/31/23, and brought it to the beach.
I got the 30A Chicken Sandwich ($16), which was so delicious! Loved the pineapple and teriyaki sauce. The sandwich was huge and it came with so many fries! Note that they don’t have many vegetarian options.
Very reasonably priced, big portions, good food! Very convenient to the Ed Walline Regional...
Read morePretty disappointed with our experience at Shelby's. The place is more quick casual dining than we had hoped for. There were no draft beer options, everything was served in a can with no cold glasses available. In fact, we had to go to the cooler to look at our options on our own, there were no lists to choose from.
Our server seemed to struggle with his tables and keeping up. Our bill was completely messed up when it arrived, we told him how to correct it and gave him our cards, when our paid bills came back they were even more incorrect than the originally were.
The food was decent, but definitely not worth the price.
Someone in our party has a severe food allergy, which the server really seemed to struggle with in regards to accommodating. He was unable to list menu items that didn't have that particular ingredient and had to go to/from the kitchen several times. Eventually a manager acme out to help.
Not sure I would recommend this place, except for their great location in the heart of...
