Habibi Mediterranean Grill — Restaurant in Santee

We’ve been here probably 6 times by now since we live close by and are usually pleased with our experience. The food always tastes great, it just takes a while for them to prepare (they told me 10-15 min and I came in at 15 min and am still waiting 5 minutes later). Not to mention I saw them take the pita bread out of a package. Those two things alone loses them a star from what we once saw as a 5 star take out place. Their new menu is hard to read, too. But happy they added the option for kids meals, one big plus. The new girl that is working seems a bit like she doesn’t know how everything works (had issues with the POS system when I paid). But the girl who has worked here since opening is always very friendly and helpful. I’ve called twice to place orders twice and immediately put on hold and then been left on hold for close to 5 minutes. The first time I hung up and just went in to order in person. It would be really helpful if they had more than 2 people working at one time…would increase food prep times (yes, I’m still waiting for my food 8 minutes later) and maybe they wouldn’t have to put anyone who...

The meat itself was great, they do have some items you don't see at other places like some drinks, smoothies, yogurts which is always good. It was just bland, maybe because it was trying to accommodate for the majority demographic in Santee? But it seemed to be lacking. For the pita 12.99 you get the pita bread, the protein and then you pick 3 toppings so in total it's 4 items inside the bread. No lettuce or sauce or tomatoes include or other binders. The fries were amazingly crunchy so luckily that saved that plate. The rice was also underseasoned the salad was OK. So overall glad I checked it out but can't see myself going back which sucks, but if you are a meat and potatoes and just go for the meat itself it is good.

Also no AC so I would avoid this place on hot hot days.

Under New Management! Wow! I bought the combo so I could try all the variety of meat and had rice and salad Lara was working and she was so kind and welcoming I have t say the lamb which I have NEVER eaten before and the chicken were tender juicy and seasoned to perfection! The beef was good it had two different flavors. Salad was delicious After that she brought out a tray of cookies She let us pick anything so three of us - I am the sweet tooth in the bunch- all picked different ones. They were all delicious some had date filling, pistachio, or walnut The flat one was very good -they are a great alternate to the overly sweet desserts. I felt like they were healthier but still made me feel like I had a treat! Small seating area - Very clean very enjoyable - we will definitely go back I would highly recommend Habibi to everyone for a great dinner to eat...
