We arrived at Huddle House before there was considered a rush. Our waiteress who we believe her name is Simone (The African American Waitress), took about 20 mins to take our order. During the time she was more worried about the togo orders in the store then the service in the restaurant. As someone who has been in the Restaurant business, it is better to have a separate person doing togo so you do not run into this problem. About 35-40 minutes later we start to see other tables who arrived at least 10 minutes after us received food. During the time we had to ask another server to refill our coffee because after she took our order she never came back to the table to check on us. Once our food started making its way to the table, our eggs were cooked wrong and we were missing the kids food and blueberry bites. When we said something about the eggs being over easy and not over medium the waitress proceeded on blow underneath her breathe and catching an attitude. When we asked about the kids food, she proceeded to say “ It’s not my problem, she’s not in the kitchen and if she could she would go back there and cook it herself”. At that point we had enough, it is very unprofessional and rude to speak to someone in that manner. When leaving we simply told another server to cancel our order. As walking outside we were approached by another serving saying that it was not necessary that we called her the an N word, which is something we did not do as we ourselves are half African American. She tried to justify the reason for us leaving being that. With everything going on now, that is not a card you should try and pull. Overall experience was horrible, and this is a place that my family and I visit on a regular basis. Never have we been treated this way or accused of saying something that would have never come out of our mouths. I hate to judge the entire huddle house over one waitress but this should not be allowed in...
Read moreI want to preface this review with saying that the entire experience at HH in Saraland was amazing. You might think that it was running like a well oiled machine run by a team of employees that care about their jobs. The food was perfect! The restaurant was clean. The service was top notch. We had been vending at Art Walk downtown all evening and got to HH about 10:45 pm on a Friday night. There were 2 other tables. We were greeted and seated by Brody (Remember his name please!) We sat and looked at the menu. Brody calmly and promptly took our order and brought us our drinks. I then noticed that he was back on the line cooking. A teenager that can multitask is an impressive sight in this day & age. I have spent 35 years cooking and managing restaurants so I was just observing at first. When he came back and delivered our food, I asked him, Are you here alone? He said he was. I asked if he was the manager and he replied that he was not. I asked where his manager was. He shrugged his shoulders and said probably in bed. This teenager came to work at 3pm after all day at school and seated, waited on customers, cooked all the food, cleared tables and did dishes from 3 pm til close when we left at midnight, and did with a smile on his face with skill that most adults couldn't manage. I offered to help him bus tables even though I had been working for over 12 hours but he declined. I will definitely be calling the corporate office on Monday. His manager doesn't deserve her job, but Brody does. His district manager needs to step in and fix the problem. I have grown up in restaurants and worked in them for a very long time. I have never seen someone handle the situation he did. He was well tipped for his efforts. So if you come to this restaurant, ask for Brody.... He can guarantee an amazing experience...
Read moreI never leave reviews, but this experience was too bad not to leave one. When my family and I arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly lady, who spoke with us for a few minutes before our waiter came to take our drink orders. After that, the entire experience went downhill. Our waiter had lots of trouble even taking our order, and we weren't given any silverware until I finally asked for it 20 minutes into the visit. The silverware "packet" consisted of ONE fork....no spoon, no knife. At this point we still had no straws, and when we asked for straws we were told "they didn't have any." Several more minutes passed, and the waiter came back to the table and advised us that they were "out of hamburgers, and fruit." We needed to see the menu again to change the order, and when we asked to sub fries for hashbrowns, the waiter gave us a blank stare and then said, "Um, I think I can do that." One of the items we ordered was a kid's waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, but the order was put in for a strawberry platter (waiter didn't know how to put in the correct order, and had to go outside to ask another employee). 30+ minutes into our wait and one waffle came out broken on each side with what looked like a rotten strawberry on top, and the 3 pancakes came out smashed, broken and folded on the edges as if they had been dropped. To make it worse, when the waiter was told there was no soap in the bathroom, he again gave us a blank stare and said, "Uh, I don't think we have any soap either." At this point, we got up and left. There is no excuse for this type of "service," and I have worked in customer service my whole working career. I can't imagine anyone giving this restaurant a 5...
