I went to this restaurant on 2/4/2022. We heard good things about it since they told us not everything was fried fish since my friend has an gluten allergy. When we first walked in, we waited with a “I’ll be right there” We waited for a few more minutes and saw that there was two seats at the bar. Asked a waitress that was walking pass if we could go there and she said “yeah”. We waited and waited, the waitress gave us our menus. My friend scanned the menu and tried to ask a waitress a question about what her choices are? Well that’s when the real personality started coming out. She acted like we were annoying her. Pointed to the only two items on the menu and said “these two”. When my friend asked if anything else on the menu could be made without breading she scuffed rolled her eyes and turned away, I had already ordered my food. So my friend ordered one of the two items on the menu. When our food came out my sandwich was shrimp salad the shrimp was frozen not just cold but frozen! When I said something to the waitress she really scuffed, that’s when I said I’m not eating this and asked for the manager, thats when the owner came over I explained that my shrimp was frozen he really got upset with me and said “it’s not frozen it was on ice what do you expect”? I told him how rude his staff was and not at all a help with my friends order. He turned his back on us and walked away without saying anything and did not come back. This explains why the staff is the way they are. I WAS stupid enough to pay $45.00 for food that we both didn’t eat. Only because my mother always taught me two wrongs don’t make a right. But I hope you will think twice about...
Read moreWe love Captain Brian’s. There’s no other place out here that gives you the freshness of seafood in the area. Everything tastes so wonderful and has such a great flavor naturally and doesn’t need much to add to make it much better. We had such a great time tonight, and we’ve been coming here for quite a while now and it gets better and better every time you come. We are so lucky to have Anna as our waitress almost every single time. We also want to give appreciation to Mary who works so hard doing her job as well. These two individuals are amazing but we also want to make sure that everyone else gets there gratification for how hard they work. These people are wonderful. They make the atmosphere amazing and we will continue coming here on a weekly basis like we have been doing for the past few months. We were not aware of this place up until about 4-5 months ago. This is our number one spot for fresh tasting seafood, but they also have land food as well. You are truly missing out on a great night with great food and amazing service. If you do not try this place out at least once. We are dedicated to coming to captain, Brian‘s as long as they are in business. We love you guys and we really appreciate all the hard work that you put into giving us the experience that we have had every time we have come. Thank you Anna and thank you Mary for taking such good care of us tonight. I wish I knew all the other employees names but they are all doing such an amazing job and keeping this place is number one between Sarasota...
Read moreMy wife and I were passing through town around lunchtime, and wanted to sample the local cuisine. We stopped in here hoping for a good spot. Wow. We wanted to try a few things, so we ordered the seafood platter, as you do. $25 later, they brought out a plate (not platter) of which they should have been ashamed. I asked our waitress with some confusion if this was a lunch portion. She replied “no, that’s the full size platter. Seafood is expensive.” She said with a straight face, “You have four shrimp, four scallops, a crab cake, a fish fillet, and some steak fries.” So our “platter” netted us each two shrimp, two scallops, a half a fish fillet, half a crab cake, and about three unseasoned potato wedges. And should that sound like a lot to you, rest assured that our daughter’s $5 chicken finger plate had at least as much food as our “platter” did. At the end, they charged us an extra dollar for sharing our meal. I would not have been surprised if they had concluded the affair by stealing our wallets and chasing us out of the place with bullwhips. I would have taken a picture, but Apple hasn’t yet provided us with a microscope feature.
Seriously, I’m a generous assessor with most things. I also realize seafood is expensive, but that wasn’t my first time in a fresh seafood restaurant. That was egregious, and while the food was pretty good, they had no cause to be that proud of it. Steer clear if you value your hard...
