If I Could Give More Than 5 Stars, I Absolutely Would!
After a full day immersed in art and beauty at the Ringling Museum, we were looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon My Mamma on Tamiami Trail — and what an unforgettable discovery it turned out to be. This isn’t just another Italian restaurant.
This is a culinary experience that’s bursting with authenticity, heart, and flavor from the very first bite to the very last.
We started with three different focaccias and the arancini. Each one was perfection — light yet satisfying, crisp on the outside, delicate and flavorful inside. It was immediately clear that we were in the hands of someone who truly understands Italian food. Every ingredient felt fresh, thoughtfully selected, and prepared with care.
Our main courses were nothing short of spectacular. Between the members of our party, we ordered the lasagna, spaghetti polpette, mare nostro, spaghetti alle vongole, and pacchero sfizioso. Every single dish had its own unique soul — rich, bold flavors, perfectly cooked pasta, beautifully balanced sauces — traditional Italian cuisine elevated with skill and passion. You could taste generations of tradition and pride in every bite.
And just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived — fresh, house-made cannoli with crisp, golden shells and the most luscious, creamy filling. A flawless ending to an exceptional meal.
The atmosphere at My Mamma is warm, vibrant, and full of life. The dining room is beautifully designed — cozy yet energetic — and you feel like you’ve been transported to a bustling little trattoria in Italy. There’s even a small market section inside with imported Italian specialties, so you can take a bit of that magic home with you. It’s these thoughtful details that truly set this place apart.
But what truly makes My Mamma shine is the heart behind it all — the chef. You can feel the passion and love he pours into his food. It’s not just about feeding people; it’s about sharing a piece of his culture, his memories, and his joy. It’s rare to see that kind of soul in a restaurant, and it made our experience incredibly special. The service was equally top-tier — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You feel like a guest in someone’s home, not just a customer in a restaurant.
My Mamma is an absolute treasure in Sarasota. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, make sure this place is on your list. It’s a celebration of everything Italian food should be — simple, soulful, fresh, and unforgettable.
If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I wouldn’t hesitate. I can’t wait...

Read moreA Taste of Italy in Sarasota. We had an absolutely fabulous dining experience at MyMamma in Sarasota, this gem of a restaurant completely exceeded our expectations.
We started with mussels in a white wine and garlic sauce, which were perfectly tender and bursting with flavor. For the antipasti, we enjoyed the mozzarella and prosciutto di Parma, simple, classic, and flawlessly executed. Both starters immediately set the tone for the evening.
With expert guidance from the warm and welcoming bartender Stevie, we chose two standout pasta dishes: the paccheri allo scoglio, featuring shellfish in a delicate cherry tomato and white wine sauce, and a rich, earthy pasta with Italian sausage, porcini mushrooms, and a touch of truffle. Each bite was layered with authentic flavors, cooked to perfection, and beautifully plated.
To finish, we shared a wild berry panna cotta that was as light and luscious as it was vibrant, a perfect sweet note to end on. The entire meal transported us straight to a small neighborhood in Italy. The ambiance, service, and flavors all made us feel like we were dining among friends in a cozy Italian village. MyMamma isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience. We’ll...
