Origin Craft Beer & Pizza Cafe — Restaurant in Sarasota

I love this place. But had a really unsatisfactory experience tonight. I ordered 82 bucks of food (and a beer) for pickup and told the waitress that I’d be waiting outside and enjoying my beer. I added a five dollar tip to my pickup order because I thought the staff would come out and let me know my food was ready. After 45 minutes I went back in and was shocked to discover my food was ready but no one had thought to let me know. When I asked the young woman who’d taken my order why no one had come out to let me know my order was ready, she replied (and I quote) “sorry honey it doesn’t work that way.” Now I could have accepted this if she’d told me this when I told her I’d be waiting outside enjoying my beer. Indeed in that case l I would have just had my beer at the counter instead of waiting outside. I asked if I could have my 5 dollar tip back and she and the manager said no. I shrugged, left my half full beer and went home only to discover that they had also not given me the Mediterranean platter from my order. I called from home and the same “sorry honey” young lady told me I could come back to pick up the platter that they had forgotten to give me. I asked if I could get a refund and she told me I’d have to come back to speak to a manager. So I drive all the way back and the manager tells me I have to wait until tomorrow to get a refund (why did I have to drive back to learn this?). Just a bad ending to a bad day. Pizza was great...

Genuinely wish I could of tried this place after looking at reviews and the food. I was looking to grab some food while waiting at the hospital. Walked over to Orgins and it seemed a little busy, which was promising. As I walk in there was a line of 2 gentlemen waiting on their pick-up orders.

I asked them and went to the counter to put in my order. There were 2 staff, one told me to give them a min. I waited for 9 mins for someone to take my to go orders but nobody did unfortunately.

All in those 9 mins the waitress gave a to go order, filled some beers, and even come to the register to grab a pizza to take outside. I felt that was her moment to take my order grab the to go pizza and put my ticket in to the kitchen as she walked passed the kitchen to take the order outside but she didn't. So I decided to leave and spend my money at Geckos.

I'm pretty sure the food is great but the service at that moment was disappointing.

Update: Spoke to a employee at the Geckos bar named William he says Orgins has great food when I asked him. I'll give them another chance tomorrow since I'm still at the hospital and hopefully...

Honestly, if I could I would give this place 4.5 stars, but I will err on the side of fairness and call it a special place, which it actually is...

Located at one end of a short outdoor, strip mall the place is bar and restsurant treating each one with equal care. We basically sat in what I would call the restaurant area, small and cozy but with enough seating to take care a couple of larger crowds that entered after we arrived.

Our service was super efficient and supremely friendly and took care of all our needs, questions, and refills. For dinner my wife had their Stromboli - a massive piece of Italian pie we both ended up enjoying. I had the Mediterranean platter, which was good except for the overcooked falafel and the dry chicken. None to worry as the rest of it made up for those two nits.

I particularly was impressed with their craft beer menu which reach to almost all parts of Florida - it was hard trying to decide what to have.

Great little place, with a friendly vibe, good food, and playing some classic 80s tools to round out the experience. Looking to come back...
