I have never had such an awful experience at a restaurant, and judging by a few other hidden reviews, I’m not the first to have one like mine. I don’t write reviews and this is my first one, but I HAVE to say something. I ordered the tofu tempura and was there with 4 other friends who got their meals before me. My dish came out 20 minutes later and was incorrect. My friends had already almost finished eating. There was no apology, nothing. Our waitress, Yoko, never checked on us and we had to flag her down just to get her to look in our direction. This was interesting considering we noticed her paying MUCH closer attention to every other table around us. We were genuinely kind to her and were baffled. She corrected my order and I waited another 20 minutes. When the correct meal came out, which was mediocre at best, she still never apologized or checked on us. When she handed me the bill, I felt it should have been discounted given that this was a server error and all of my friends had empty plates long before my actual meal arrived. The incorrect meal she gave me was actually under a totally different name and I’m still unsure how she got mixed up. There was no communication. Perhaps this review wouldn’t be so harsh if the owner had cared more when I spoke to him or if our waitress had actually spoken to us to clear it up. She just denied I ordered what I actually wanted. Another woman came, I’m assuming a manager, and was extremely condescending, telling me that what I ordered wasn’t what I initially said (despite her not even being our waitress), and when I mentioned the wait and service she said sarcastically, “Well, you know food takes time to cook right?” I would have easily understood if it was communicated that it might take a bit longer earlier on. She eventually ended up laughing in my face, saying “Would it make you happy if you just didn’t have to pay? Why don’t we do that? Are you happy now? Does that make you feel better?” Seriously, my jaw was open and this was now causing a scene. We ended up being there for 2.5 hours. Actually, I would have loved to treat myself to a local restaurant with high quality food and good service. I usually tip 30% as someone who has worked in food service. Sadly, I received neither of those things and I would have honestly paid fully if the situation was handled better. If I’m paying for a high-end meal, it’s reasonable to expect high-end service. Instead, there wasn’t an ounce of professionalism. I will not be back, and will be sure to tell others to steer away when they ask for local restaurant...
Read moreVery disappointing. First I want to say that I much prefer writing a good review because I'd rather be positive and tell the world about something great. However, this would be impossible in the case of Pacific Rim.
I should have known to avoid this place by their broken (not lighted) sign. We came on a Sunday at ~7:00pm and it was quite crowded and we waited 20+ minutes for a table. No complaints at this stage.
We ordered drinks, appetizer, sushi and one grilled chicken entrée.
The first problem was the service. Our server was either very new or very bad. When the tempura appetizer came we asked for Wasabi. She acknowledged the request but didn't return to the table until our entrée was ready. When the sushi was delivered there was no soy sauce. We asked for that (and was acknowledged), but when we flagger her down 10+ minutes later she was sorry that she forgot it!
Then comes the grilled chicken (fried rice and veggies). All were barely luke warm. After a couple disappointing bites we asked that it be reheated and they promised to make new. 15 minutes later they brought back the same components with the chicken so burnt that I couldn't cut through it, but the rice and broccoli were now cold. Perhaps this a new style of cuisine, but it doesn't work for me.
Honestly if that were the extend of my disappointments I wouldn't have bothered to write.
But then the manager came by to ask how we loved the food and I showed him my burnt chicken. He offered to remake it, but at this stage I was just ready to leave. He said he would take it off the bill.
The chicken was ~$19 and it was taken off the bill. However that meal came with soup and they decided to charge for it "ala carte".
ps: The sushi was 7-Eleven quality.
When you've had a HORRIBLE experience and are given a $52 bill, I suppose he knew he'd never see us a again. I assume the restaurant is on the verge of going bankrupt so the need to extract the $5 for the soup is...
Read moreI recently got take out from Pacific Rim, and to say that the experience was dreadful would be an understatement. The food I received was nothing short of god awful, leaving a sour taste in my mouth that lingers even as I write this review.
The first red flag appeared when I received my order of Lemon Grass Chicken which came with noodles, which were not only overcooked but also watered down. It seemed as though the flavors had been diluted to the point of tastelessness. The protein accompanying the dish suffered the same fate, with an unmistakable overcooked texture that made it inedible. It was a meal that lacked any semblance of quality or care in its preparation.
To address this disappointing experience, I decided to call and speak to a manager. Unfortunately, I was met with utter disappointment yet again. The manager, who claimed to be too busy to speak at the time, conveniently failed to return my call for a full 24 hours. When I finally reached them, their attitude was nothing short of rude and disrespectful. Instead of acknowledging the legitimate concerns I raised, the manager engaged in a futile argument, disregarding my feedback and refusing to take any responsibility for the abysmal meal and poor customer service. It was clear that they had no intention of rectifying the situation or even offering an apology.
Needless to say, after this woeful experience and the complete lack of professionalism demonstrated by the manager, I will never set foot in Pacific Rim again. It is disheartening to witness such disregard for customer satisfaction and a complete disregard for culinary standards.
I strongly advise anyone considering dining at Pacific Rim to think twice and seek alternatives where quality, taste, and customer service are valued. Save yourself the disappointment and frustration that I endured and choose a restaurant that prioritizes their patrons' satisfaction.
