We saw a new, super cool cookie place on Instagram, and as soon as we could convince our introvert daughter to leave the house on some errands, we sent her straight to Dunked. As soon as she walked in the door with the shoebox full of cookies, I was immediately impressed because I'm a sucker for unique packaging, but it got even better when I opened up the box.
We opted for five cookies because that's when you get the cute box (totally understandable because anything less would be a waste of space). Every cookie is individually packaged, and she was told they could be frozen if needed (but there's no way we are holding onto them that long). I immediately opened the Pie, Felicia! because I love everything apple pie, and it was perfection. It wasn't as dense as other local cookie favorites, the apple pie filling was flavorful with perfectly slightly-crunchy and tiny cut apples, and the crumble on top was so good. We'll be digging into the rest right after dinner, and I'm sure every flavor will be just as delicious.
My daughter snapped a couple pictures of the store because she knows me so well, and now my normally-introverted self wants to venture out into the world to visit. I was a big NBA fan in the 90's, and it's obvious whoever owns this place has the same love because a few of the greats make up a mural on the wall. Plus, there's a great photo-op set up to make you look like you're on the cover of a magazine!
While I didn't personally experience the customer service, my daughter said the guy who helped her was awesome, and she's generally not a fan of interacting with anyone, ha ha!
Please run, don't walk, to Dunked as soon...
Read moreCool cookie shop. Clearly basketball themed. If you buy a box of cookies it comes in a basketball shoe box styled box. Each cookie comes in its own pouch. They recommend you heat them up in the microwave prior to eating, which made the experience better. Honestly, beyond the initial novelty of a specifically basketball themed storefront and cookie names, the basketball themed was kinda lost on me. It doesn't make me want to buy the cookies any more. I was mostly there to support a local business.
I am not one that ever says something is too sweet but these cookies were SUPER sweet! I needed a full glass of milk to drink with it. They use unique chocolates like golden and ruby chocolate which tend to run sweeter to me anyway. The texture was awesome. The cookies aren't wide and flatter, instead they are less diameter than others but kinda piled up like a mountain which helped keep them more moist.
Ultimately, they were too sweet for me but still great, though, at $5 per cookie, they were a little more expensive than others. I imagine this is to cover the cost of the cookie pouches and custom shoe boxes which were fine but not super necessary to me. I would definitely say give them a shot. They have cool combinations of flavors and you can actually taste all of the major ingredients, which is nice.
Give it a shot. It is good, just not my...
Read moreTo walk into Dunked is to immerse oneself into basketball immortality. Pantheonic figures like Larry Bird, Hakeem Olajuwon, and Diana Taurasi sit on the walls immediately behind the cash register. Single-moniker icons like Stockton, Malone, Shaq, Kobe, and of course, Jordan, all loom larger than life (literally) on the west wall of the store. The collection of all time greats that surround you as you enter all seem to portend the same thing: you are in for a legendary experience. Phrases like âmust try,â âmy new go-to,â or âbest cookies everâ are as insufficient in describing the experience one has with these cookies as saying âKareem was really good at that sky hook,â or âall LeBron does is pout,â (I mean, he does complain a lot but to say thatâs ALL he does is just silly). These cookies are levels above the best cookies in the country, and this is in a state that is saturated in cookie competition. You may not do the jumping split-leg fist pump celebration a la MJâs game winner over Craig Ehlo after eating these cookies, but then...
