We visited this restaurant on a Saturday at 1:30 PM and were surprised to find that only one table was occupied. The ample seating and cozy setup gave off a pleasant Nepalese vibe. The kitchen being visible to us had its pros and cons. On one hand, we could see our food being cooked, but on the other hand, we had to tolerate some unpleasant smells. Moving on to the food, we started with the Chicken Choila and Vegetable Momos. The Chicken Choila was absolutely outstanding and a must-try. However, the Vegetable Momos were not up to par. They arrived on our table somewhat cold and lacked the freshness we were expecting. The Fish Tandoori was decent but seemed overpriced considering the quantity and it had a mild flavor. The Kerau Paneer was overly sweet and the portion size was disappointingly small. We didn't anticipate that. As an experiment, we decided to try the coconut naan, but it turned out to be too sweet. If you enjoy sweet naan, then it might be worth a try. We initially thought our order would be sufficient for four people, but due to the small portion of Kerau Paneer, we had to order another dish. We opted for the Mango Shrimp, choosing the spicy option. However, the first bite was unexpectedly sweet, followed by an overpowering level of spiciness. The staff were friendly, accommodating our requests. Overall, our experience was just okay, with the Chicken Choila...
Read moreThe name of the restaurant is really misleading. I m Nepalese, so when I walked into the restaurant , the decor and background music gave me feeling back home and promised me food that would cater to my nepali palate . But when I opened the menu , I saw there is nothing that we can call ' himalayan' or 'nepali' . The entire menu was filled with vindaaloos and tikka masalas which are authentic indian food. I was disappointed so when I asked the owner about the discrepancy. .she was extremely defensive and said ' It's not nepali restaurant. .it's himalayan restaurant that's why we have indian meals"....I was speechless....just to let her have the courtesy of serving the ever so confused menu ..I did go ahead and order some. Disappointed! Just piece of advice ...just for the purpose of running the business ..don't hurt people's sentiments and propagate information that's not factual ..stop telling people that vindaaloos represent authentic taste of himalayas when it does not. .or simply just change the name to some thing else like '...
Read moreWe stopped by for lunch with family after visiting Muir Woods. When we arrived, there were only two other customers in the restaurant. We ordered onion pakoda, garlic naan, vegetable vindaloo, and the monthly special greens curry. The pakoda was good, but the vindaloo tasted like it came from a bottle and was watered down. Despite specifically requesting that the curries not be mild, both arrived quite mild. The greens curry was just okay—edible, but not memorable. The naan was average, with grainy garlic that seemed to come from a shaker. Service was decent, but the food took a surprisingly long time to arrive, especially given how few customers were there. Overall, I wouldn’t choose to...
