09/29/24 (Takeout order)
After the hurricane aftermath, finding a good restaurant was hard to do. My wife and I decided to try some Chinese since it had been a while and we wanted to enjoy some fresh food since we had been without power for days. We did not want to order much since we had no way to save it so we decided on 3 orders: General Tso Chicken, fried rice, egg roll Orange Chicken, fried rice, egg roll and a side order of vegetable fried rice. We were excited about the order because we keep hearing how Wangs 2 is one of the best takeout sports here in Savannah for Chinese. When we were told over the phone that the order total was $50 we were a little shocked but I am guessing that charge nearly $17 for a combo plate now. Plus, the side order of rice must of been well over $10. Nevertheless, we paid for the order and got home to a complete letdown. The only thing good that happened that night was us getting out power back. The food was bland and the General Tso Chicken was unnecessarily spicy. I also do not under this policy where you can’t substitute veggie fried rice for their white rice in the combo plates. Food gets a 5/10 rating and its average at best. I will be trying that place out in Georgetown or E Tang next since they are supposed to be good but this place is not up to par. I will not ever go back and I have had better Chinese food from various hole in the wall locations across the southeastern United States. Very disappointed and overall this will not be my go to Chinese restaurant here...
Read moreI order through Grub Hub, so the review is only about the food, not the actual restaurant. BLAND! Random ingredients trying to passed off as a traditional recipe. We ordered a dinner Moo Goo Gai Pan, a dinner Sweet & Sour chicken and a few egg rolls (which were only available as veggie - no pork or chicken option). Moo Goo Gai Pan is my absolute favorite. I love the sauce which is usually flavorful with chicken and garlic. The dish I received had no flavor. I usually also receive mixed veggies with it, including carrots, mushrooms, water chestnuts, onions, and peapods. This has only zucchini and mushrooms. I ordered sweet and sour chicken for my son who I knew wouldn't use the sauce but usually battered chicken would be a win. Not this. It again was bland. No flavor, no salt. Chicken was over cooked, bland and dry. Even with the sauce which was eh, it still just wasn't good. But they did throw some random pepper chunks, onion chunks, and carrots (maybe the missing veg from my moo Goo Gai Pan?), but that made it weird for sweet and sour chicken. The egg rolls were the best part of the meal IMO, even though I'd prefer pork egg rolls. We only could get white rice, which I prefer, but my son would have preferred fried rice - no option to pick one or the other. The ONLY saving grace and authentic part was the hot mustard. Real deal, a drop will kill ya hot mustard. The cookies sucked. Only one had a fortune in it. All in all I paid almost $50 for a meal that was blah. I'll be checking other Chinese options...
Read moreThe food is always so delicious, fast and fresh! The servers are such sweet people! The crunchy noodles and duck sauce are a nice starter. We also ordered scallion pancakes and fried dumplings. The pancakes were a huge surprise because we didn’t know what to expect. We like to try new things! They were fantastic! The sauce is the same as the dumplings. You could taste the homemade and freshness of the dumplings too!! We ordered the dinner for 3, one for each of us, which is a great deal and comes with so much food! Comes with white or fried rice, soup and a egg or spring roll and a full size meal. We had hot and sour soup (1st time trying it and... not our favorite flavors..) and the go to, wonton soup which is our favorite! We decided to try the egg roll and spring roll, both were great. Then our meals came out, family style because we order the family dinner. We got sweet and sour chicken, general tso chicken and hunan beef. (Listed in order of liking) probably won’t Order hunan beef again it was a bit soggy. The seating area is very large and I have to say this is my new weekly spot for dinner! It’s a nice experience and meal, don’t get it to go!...
