Where do I start? I have stayed at many Comfort Inns in the past as I travel for business and pleasure. This hotel had to be the most disappointing one I have ever stayed at. The room seemed a little run down along with the hotel itself. It looked good from the outside, but the inside told a different story.
First, when I arrived at my room after dark and as I walked into the room, the light switch closes to the door did not work for the lamp that was closest to it. I had to find my way to the switch for the lamp near the bed and figure out how to turn it on.
Second, I went to the vending machine ( I was expecting a pantry as I have experienced in other CI’s I stayed in) to purchase a bottle of water. When I went to drink the bottle, I noticed that the bottle had a blue green residue, which was an indication of either algae or mold. Needless to say, I did not drink it. I ended up the next day walking across the street, ( five lanes of traffic) to the Jersey’s Mike to purchase water for the day.
Third, I had turned the AC unit off for a bit next morning and when I turned it back on there were ants crawling on the unit. (I did not have time to address this with the front desk, as I had somewhere to be at a specific time. When I returned to the hotel later there was a sign on the door stating no vacancies for the night and there were quite a few people at the front desk waiting to check in. My thoughts were I was either going to be told that they could not switch me to another room and if they could, the room may have only gotten cleaned and assigned to someone else for the night without addressing the ant issue. ) I recorded the ants around the AC unit with the initial intentions of addressing the issue when I returned to the hotel.
I am not even going to mention how it appears that this owner is only about the money. I received a call late that night before I checked in to confirm my reservation and to see if I was still coming. My guess is that they were full that night and if I was not coming they were going to give the room to someone else and still charge me for the night. I hate to think that if I had not answered the phone because it was from a number that I did not recognized what would have happened when I arrived. There was a message on the door when I arrived that said no vacancies.
There were other issues with the hotel. Some of the furniture throughout was peeling. I stepped off the elevator and there was a leather seating that really should have been thrown out as I did not think it represented the hotel for being neat and clean. When I arrived there was a plastic cup that was stuffed under a chair in the hallway by the elevator that was still there when I checked out, which speaks a lot for the management of housekeeping to vacuum floors or even dust every so often. There was dust on many of the fixtures in my room as well.
In addition to the dust in the room, there was rust on many of the fixtures, such as the soap holder in the bathroom, the fire sprinklers in the room, the hinges on the doors just to mention a few.
I was traveling with others that also checked in and they had similar complaints about the room not being up to standard. There were red stains on the sheets and pillowcases when they arrived in the room. They sent me pictures and video and notified the front desk and they did change the linen out. However, this is another example of how the owner or people who work for the owner does not care. I am sure if they were changing the sheets after each stay that those sheets would have been placed on the bed like that. It made me question if my sheets were actually fresh sheets on the bed I had slept on or the guest that sleeps in the bed after me. There were stains on the chairs and sofa in the room as well.
When I checked out of the hotel. There was no one at the front desk as this person was asleep on a couch in the lobby. I just left my key in the bucket at the front desk and walked out.
I am scheduled to stay at this hotel again at a later date, however once a book with another hotel, I will be canceling the stay as I will be traveling with small children who do not need to be subjected to the conditions that I have described and the lack of upkeep that was displayed throughout the hotel.
I do hope that someone from the hierarchy of Comfort Inn will look into these matters or even visit the hotel unannounced to experience what I experienced as a guest of the hotel. I will never stay at this location again as I have in the past will in the future come...
Read moreThis particular Comfort Inn was “adequate” at best. Room was large and price was good for the Savannah area; however, the hotel appeared and felt old and slightly run down. Bed was advertised as a queen and was a full/double rather than a queen. Bed comforter between the two sheets was soiled with pubic hair and small spots of dried blood. Walls in room were dirty with dried food near coffee maker. Food from previous guest was left in the fridge (yogurt and a boiled egg which left refrigerator smelling badly). No stopper for bathtub so it could only be used as a shower, despite being advertised as having a tub. Hot breakfast items tended to be cold, not kept adequately warmed, ran out quickly and were not immediately replaced. Tables during breakfast were not wiped down or cleaned between guests’ use. Out of the 4 night stay, after 2 days of the described breakfast situation, we opted not to dine in for breakfast and we paid for our breakfast meal outside the hotel. The staff overall seemed very disinterested and rather surly. We were never greeted coming or going in and out of the hotel, with a one time exception of a gentleman working the night desk who did greet us with friendly welcome back. It often seemed that perhaps friends of the desk staff were visiting and hanging around the lobby area, creating an unprofessional feel and customer service type experience. Upon departure there was no one at the front desk and the dining server (who I think may have been the licensee/owner) passed by and mumbled “if you are checking out just place your room key in the basket/jar” and he continued to walk away, at which point I told him I wanted a receipt. He did come back and provided a receipt and walked away without thanking me for my business, wishing me safe travels, or any of the other typical departure hospitality I have always experienced as a frequent traveler and hotel guest. This seemed a bit cold and disinterested considering we stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and were in and out of the hotel, passing through the lobby a few times daily. While I did not expect, nor require, 5, or even 4 star hotel treatment, I felt this hotel definitely needs considerable improvement. Depending on our needs and purpose of travel, we normally stay at 2-4 star hotels, most often 3. This one was a bit...
Read moreWhen I arrived I was pleased at the appearance of the property as a whole. The person who check me in was excellent. My stay was great, my departure not so much. On the evening of 5/4/2017 I stopped by the front desk and requested a late check-out of 12:00pm and it was granted, then on 5/5/2017 at 11:07am I received a knock at the door as someone yelled housekeeping, I immediately yelled back "We're not dressed" she tried to enter anyway which made me very uncomfortable because we were downstairs in the courtyard area, and could be seen by passers by. As I approached the door I told the house keeper that we had a late check-out of 12:00pm, at which time she yelled across the courtyard"Lenna". I then returned to bed knowing that I had a little more time, or I thought anyway until I received a call from a young woman who only identified her self by saying this is the front desk. She then proceeding to say, that they have no record in there system of a late check-out and I would have to be out by 11:30am, I explained to her the steps I had taken to secure the late check-out, and it was impossible for us to be out by 11:30am, and was told that the Front Desk Manager would call me back. When I hung up I was visible upset, my daughter then said she was very uncomfortable and wanted to leave immediately. I was so upset because this mini vacation was for her, because she was such a great student and I wanted her to know how proud of her I was. As we began to pack the phone rang, it was the Front desk Manager, she said Hi this is Halenna, although we don't have it in the system you can check out at 12:00pm, I told her no thanks because, we've been made uncomfortable and we will be over to check-out in a little bit. She apologized, but it was to little to late. The same service a guest receive upon arrival is the same service they should receive during there departure. I was shocked by the staffs treatment of my daughter and myself. We felt like liars and criminals. I was basically called a liar, I felt like I didn't matter. Never have I been treated like this by a place I paid to stay at....
