Hi. Haven't done a review in awhile but here goes. Anytime I'm in town I stop by. I normally get dessert. I love Baklava, and here it's the best. I will ask for strawberries next time. Anyway, today I decided to sit down and eat. Two main reasons I give 4 of 5, first I dislike workaraunts and second, the potato salad seemed store bought. Tasted like the Krogers brand. Don't like that at all. Oh, I have to say this. The taziki sauce, didn't need it. I put a tiny bit in my spinach rice to brighten it up, it was bland. I tried it on a falafel but did not care for that combination. The falafel reminded of cornmeal rolled stuffing with a strong earthy spice. 100 of 100 I would eat without taziki sauce. I like the battered fries. Good seasoning, could be a little crisper but good all the way through. The meatballs were my favorite. Yummy to my tummy. I did end up put my rice in with the meatballs. That combination was a win. I ate dessert first, a chocolate Kors. It does not disappoint. Chocolate mouse' inside a chocolate shell. Delicious! Overall, 4 of 5. Overall, I will keep coming back. $22 for meatballs, battered fries, spinach rice, potato salad, falafels, and a chocolate Kors. It was a good meal. Thank you to the staff, always...
Read moreEveryone who leaves a positive review for this place does not know a thing about food or restaurants. This is supposedly a Greek take-out join, right? Serving the Ardsley neighborhood and environs? Then why is it closed on a Saturday by 5 p.m.? I don't get it. Seriously. There is no business model here. As much as I want this place to succeed, I can't understand all of the positive reviews. Despite the gigantic kitchen space, Yia Yia's makes NOTHING on site. 'Authentic'? Okay - feta from Greece. Otherwise, everything comes off of a US Foods or Sysco truck. Premade hummus and tzatziki from plastic tubs. Fries from freezer bags. Grocery store ice cream. Sure, the pastries are nice and 'authentic', but they are made in Florida and shipped up weekly. It could be so much more than it is, but they need to hire a chef and make actual Greek food. Nothing like a locked-up and dark neighborhood 'restaurant' on a weekend night. Do they not think that folks between Victory and Columbus might want a place to grab a gyro and some dessert on a weekend night?...
Read moreNot sure how this place gets such high ratings but it's likely bc most Americans have little concept of what real Greek food taste like ...... or it's just their receipt. First the tzatziki - not good by Greek standards, well at least not the batch I got. Very watery and lacked garlic. Again, if this is what you like then good for you. The gyros was way too soft with a lot of fat. The mix almost seemed like minced meat vice solid chunks and way too gamey. Again, if you like that, then it's for you. Worst part was the service! The young lady behind the counter was nothing but rude and almost seemed to not want my business. It was practically empty and she seemed to be annoyed I came in with a large order an hour before they closed. I've lived in Greece for years and even at the most so-so tasting places, the service made the big difference. Will not go back BUT the price points are good. So a mixed bag for...
